Just be sure you have all the fabric that's supposed to be in the kit. Sometimes you don't and, for sure, if it's short it will be with the one fabric you really want to use. :)

And why do they always signal low battery at 3am? BTW, before I sold my condo a couple of years ago I replaced the smoke alarms with ones that had lithium batteries ... battery life several years. :D

High moisture sealing

In situations like this, I would freeze the item in ziplocks or on a sheet pan. After they are frozen, then I would put them into the vacuum bags and seal.

Don't laugh. Lots of people use Dremels to keep their dog's nails in check and my podiatrist uses something suspiciously like a Dremel to smooth everything down when he's finished.
