i've always pictured new zealand as a quite and peaceful place with very little bad news to report.

everyone i've ever met from new zealand has been so happy and friendly.

Les Mills is a very popular fitness class program here in the states.

when i owned a gym i taught many of the Les Mills classes and met a few of their instructors when they came over to NY.

Isn't that frustrating.... we had guests most of yesterday and last night, friends of hubby's more than mine, and I'm being polite and having conversation and all I could think was "hurry up and leave so I can put my pj's on and sew before bed!"
i'm so bad this way too.

i routinely sneak away to be in my sewing room for a few minutes when we have company.

You ladies are much more polite then I am. I simply pull out hand work and either applique or quilt right in front of them. ;)

You're right, we are a wonderful place! lol :-) Generally speaking, we are a very friendly and helpful bunch. Sir Edmund Hilary (the dude who conquered Everest) was a very typical Kiwi, unassuming, no frills or fuss, just get the job done and move on to the next. We have a lot of "quiet heroes", people who do amazing things but shrug it off.
Peter Jackson is a true kiwi bloke (LOTR and Kong), and Weta workshops are from here.

There's a song a kiwi group wrote, I can't remember the exact lyrics off hand but it's something about "they didn't tell us it couldn't be done, so we did it", and that sums up the Kiwi attitude well.

You guys all know that if you ever make it down to this end of the planet you absolutely have to come and see me! :-)

I did think about it!! LOL

The problem is the applique I'm doing at the moment I need my little bi-focals for, and I'm far too embarrassed to wear them in public just yet! lol

Now that I'm also knitter, I have way more fun at parties! I take my knitting with me, and if the conversation gets boring (eg. talk about movies or TV shows I haven't seen, or video games I don't play), I find a quiet corner and pull out my knitting. Often, someone else who knits or crochets sees me and comes to sit with me and talk about knitting, or pulls out their knitting too!
