AngelO and Dairybarn...love them both. You convinced me to sew mine into a square also, I alternated the black and gray sides. Was going to finish it without borders because I like Dairy's so much--- but after seeing AngelO's I'm thinking I'll add a narrow border, then decide if I want a second border or not. I can't recall ever being so undecided! This block just screams for creativity! The possibilities are endless! I absolutely love everyone's blocks. Thank you Judy! (I think...) LOL

OOPS sorry... I meant MaryO (not AngelO) with the pretty blocks with borders.
I'm wondering about TLambing... Have you finished those gorgeous batik blocks yet? Have been watching to see how you finish them. They are sooo pretty.

Calling Judy and all red, white and blue quilt lovers... I just had an epiphany... If you want to make Judy's block in RWB like I showed, a fast, easy way, is to use precuts. One red/white Honey Bun, one Blue/white Honey Bun and one solid white Charm Pack. Sure would save time on those QOV. All you'd have to do is cut the strips to correct length and cut each Charm into 4 pieces. Would take a tad of cutting for the star itself but still very fast and easy. I have not done the math, so don't know how many blocks this would make, but using Honey Buns would give a good variety of patterns in the colored strips, too. Sorry but I've no time for math now... I'm off to see about purchasing a vintage treadle machine. Wish me luck! Jan

dairy barn - love this, so spring-like and cheery
JustJan - and also the centers could be simpler, even just a single square.
Love the idea that some of you will participate in Q of V, it is so worthwhile. There was a big presentation in Lake Havasu last fall and they are still getting quilts out to WW2 vets -- one stood on his crutches with tears in his eyes and said it was going to be named in his will so it didn't get lost in the shuffle. And many Vietnam vets are still getting quilts as well as all our homecoming injured middle east vets.

I've been participating in a local QOV, but don't think any of the quilts go to Vietnam or WW2 vets etc. In fact, I believe they all go to Walter Reed Hospital, if I'm not mistaken. My neighbor is a Vietnam vet, as is my brother. Hmmmm .... food for thought.

ctyankee - There are many distributions for the quilts. One Arizona chapter is so large that sometimes they will have a presentation to 20 vets at a time. I'm sure many are presented by Walter Reed.

Oh I sure will! I purchased it and they just delivered it. Its a Singer "Redeye" and absolutely gorgeous. Its 100 years old this year. Runs smoother than my new machines. Who says I can't buy my own gift? Happy Birthday to me! Will get a picture soon. ;o) I'm still doing a happy dance!
