Those are lovely, Angelia, I also like the second one best.

Nice blocks, Thimblebug. Love the layout.

Post #137: Why not make one of each, AngeliaNR? I love both choices! I'm not riding this train, but I'm following along and saving the clues.....I have too many finished quilt tops to quilt and bind, so I'm not getting any quilting done right now. I love everyone's fabric choices also.

Love both choices, but if I had to choose, I'd pick the second.
I have all mine cut out and am trying to decide which machine to use. I usually use my Brother for piecing, but in this little apartment I don't keep it set up, so am trying to decide whether to just go ahead and use the Janome, which although has all the bells and whistles, doesn't seem quite as accurate for piecing. Decisions, decisions!
My aim is to be finished this step by tomorrow so I'll stay caught up.

JUDY -- can this pattern be turned into a lap quilt? If so, how many of these initial blocks should I make? I was thinking about doubling and amount, but don't want to unless I know for sure this will stretch to a lap quilt. Thanks!

I should not be allowed out on my own at this point of finals week! I just remembered that I got the rosebud fabric for my granddaughter's birthday nightgown--sigh. I'll try another group of fabrics later. I appreciate everyone's help.

Well, after changing my mind every day at least once (cutting table is a mess of fabric stacks) I found a bag of black, white and grey and decided...Yes...that is what I wanted to try when the mystery started....cut some, sewed some and they are nice because it is a great quilt pattern.........but, sigh, they are not colorful.....I know, I know"what did you expect"....sigh......so I did what I do when ideas freeze.....bring out the 10 1/2 x 10 1/2 string piecing papers and the 15 water jugs (sans tops and first 3 inches)of scraps sorted by color and JUST sewed. Ten blocks later as I was putting in a full bobbin I noticed the one I did with black, white and grey really stands out from the others...sigh.. must be old age ! Today I will decide ... and stick with decision. Unless.....it rains....

I sure do miss the days when our trains actually had a caboose.... the engineers always used to wave at us kids.
