Judy, I remember in one mystery, you mentioned oversizing flying geese to trim down--do you remember which one it was? I'm thinking it might have been the one with the big stars, but I'm not sure where to look.

    FOUND IT:

I didn't go to check which it was or where it was, but I do know that when I am making sawtooth using the regular flip and sew method, I cut the blocks for the geese portion the regular size and overcut the height of the base. For example a 6" goose would be 3-1/2 by 6-1/2 to finish in the quilt at 6 x 3. When I cut the big piece for the geese, I cut it 3-1/2 by 6-3/4. Also cut the corner piece that would have been 3-1/2" square, that that also at 3-3/4. Then trim the finished block at 12-1/2", trimming off the goose portion that sometimes gets wonky.

Angelia found it, but I'm posting it in case anyone else is interested.

Thank you. I can't take credit for that one, I was told to do that. if you sew on the line, you can't get the full foldover needed.

But the geese tip I gave Angelia if my own.

Like your geese tip. Had not thought to use it with the squares and rectangle method. E. Burns method uses over-sized squares to make two at a time then you use her ruler to square them up. I loved her method but always have to go back to be sure what size her squares are. With your method its easier because I don't have to remember anything. LOL

The flying geese are all looking great! Loving all the color combos we have.

I'm making my top times four and I didn't calculate right, oopsy. So guess who had to run to the store Saturday? There was no way I could find more of my four year old background fabric so I just hoped to come close. No can do. I did find something else and I'm excited about it. Slowly, slowly getting it done and I will post a pic of my geese when they're finished. What fun!

My clue three. I did promise myself no guesses this time, but I just couldn't help it......

Also, reminder to myself - next time you cut two layers at a time remember to double up your count properly!!!

I've got 26 extra D fabric 2.5" squares left...... Hopefully if we use fabric D again it'll be that size cuts lol.

    Cheers, K

PS. someone asked if I could identify my fabrics from the selvage info.

The peacock feathers (A) has no selvage, but the shop has some laid aside for me, so I should have that info by the weekend.

The gold fan fabric (B) is Peggy Toole for Robert Kaufman, Empress Banquet D.8429

PPS. I've put some photos from last weekend's Scottish Quilt Championships into the Pictures forum, in case anyone is interested.....
