I haven't been doing much piecing lately as I have been working on my Affairs of the Heart applique quilt and seems like I forgot how to piece. Anyway, I decided today I should start trying to get caught up with this BOM and decided to start with the July star - big mistake. Should have tried something simpler.
Here is my block - unfortunately it doesn't look like Jinny Beyer's block at all. I didn't realize until it was completely put together that the blue points of the star are backwards. Oh well, I'm not doing it over - it will be my own interpretation of this star. Too bad I couldn't tell right from left. Now that I've posted it, I see that only 3 sides are incorrect - maybe I will have to fix it.

Hi Judy, I'm not sure I'd fix it. It kind of looks like a shooting star the way it is. I like it! And if I did fix it, I'd change the one side that is right so it matches the three wrong ones. Then it would be a totally unique star. :D Don't we call that creativity?

This was a difficult star, but I did figure out how to use my rotary cutter to cut the template pieces, so that was fun. And I thought the way the instructions suggest for the corner blocks are not the easiest, for me anyway. I found it much easier to stitch the one piece on the square, stopping a 1/4 inch before the end, and then adding the other piece stopping stitching at that first point. Same idea, I guess, but this worked better for me.
I was amazed that my block ended up at 12.5'' even if not perfect.
Thanks, Sulabug for the challenge, although I must say, I am glad I only had to make one, lol.

And all my stars together, will be set on point with a lavender sashing.
