While researching this I saw a block that would be a lovely coordinating block. Its called Jack In The Box. I'm not feeling very well today but when I finish my block (hopefully tomorrow) I will try to make a Jack In the Box block to go with it, if anybody is interested.
I would be interested for sure, would love to see how these two go together. Thanks.

Here is what I made today. I do like the pattern but would have liked it much better if I had rearranged my colors. I think the windmill in the center needs to be white or light like the background. I would make my star the same. Using the colors as I did, the bow or wing shapes get lost and that's what makes it match the ribbon. But I do like this block and like them together. What do you think? I made this block by using 4 Flying Geese and 4 striped sections like we made in the mystery block. It would require cutting eight rectangles of color 3 1/2 x 6 1/2 and sixteen white 3 1/2" squares. The star would be as posted in the mystery but the center star would also be white. May work on another set later and hoping someone else makes a set and will post them. (These are both 12" finished blocks.)

Great call, Jan! The Joker block works very well with the Christmas Star (or whatever name you choose from the list for this block).

I enlarged it to 12 1/2" unfinished to match the Star in this way:

Flying geese for each corner patch are made from one feature fabric measuring 3"x 5 1/2" and two background squares 3"x3". The two HSTs for each corner patch are from one feature fabric square 3 1/2" x 3 1/2" and one background square 3 1/2" x 3 1/2" (same HST method used for Star). Trim resulting two HSTs to 3" square. Make four corner patches that will measure 5 x 1/2" x 5 1/2" each.

    The sashing pieces are 2 1/2" x 5 1/2". The center block is 2 1/2" x 2 1/2".

Assemble patches, sashing pieces, center block in rows as you would a nine patch block.

Here is my ready-to-quilt table topper that will be a hostess gift if I get it done by the weekend!

Jan, I see we were typing at the same time! We did the two versions of the block so there are lots of options!

Oh I love your topper! I want to make one more block if I can squeeze out enough white. I will make the block using your version of Jack In The Box with the sashing strips. Thanks for posting the dimensions. Lucky hostess!!!! Its beautiful!

Here is my block. It isn't completely scrappy--I just used some fabric I had out already to see how it would go together. Thanks, Judy!

Really like all the stars I've seen so far. The white star grabs me and I would like to play with this block some more.

My fabrics were really out there especially my light ones and because of that the ribbon effect was entirely lost on mine. I like the look of my really out there blocks anyway. I just happened to have four yellow schoolhouse blocks from years back and used them for this small quilt top. Have you ever?!!

...and thank you Judy, this was beyond fun!

Wow, I go away for half a day, and miss all the fun. All those runners and blocks are fabulous, everything is terrific. Love how all of you mixed the blocks in your projects.

Angelie I really like your two fabrics, very pretty.
