I'm here Judy. And let me say it was great to wake up this morning and anticipate a new clue.
I am using a Laura Ashley fabric I bought in 1977!! Stay tuned.

I'm confused too. The HSTs end up 2 or 2 1/2" . I reread & still don't get it. I guess I need another bite of sugar!

I'm confused also. Looking at the finished one, it looks to be 2" by 3 1/2". I think I need some sugar too dotcomdtcm.

paintmejudy...part of the confusion comes from the second step too, when you say to cut 48 2 1/2" squares from light and sew them onto what we now know are 2" HSTs...don't we need to cut 48 2" squares of light to sew onto 2" HSTs?

I think it is 48 HST measuring 2 1/2" square unfinished. Match up with 2 1/2" light squares. When all is sewn together they will end up to be 2".

Ok, this is clear as mud... sorry. I know you are trying to be helpful to new quilters but the teaching part has totally confused me. Can you tell us how large the raw HST should be... I think you mean 2 1/2" to sew into the quilt and finish at 2", is that correct? And what is supposed to be cut at 2", if anything? Sorry, Judy. Hate to cut it and have it wrong. Jan

OH NOOOOOOOO MAJOR ERROR ON MY PART ABOUT THIS WEEK'S CLUE

Your HSTs are to end up measuring 2" square. The light squares will be cut in 2" squares and sewn on to the 2" HSTs, making a unit that measures 2" wide by 3-1/2" long.. I am so so sorry. I read this over twice last night, and I didn't catch the error. Hope all of you will see this mistake.

Thank you for the clarification, Judy.

These will be the smallest HSTs I've ever made. Will be interested to see how wonky they turn out!

THANK YOU, JUDY. I think I've got it! Raw measurement of HST is 2", and light squares are cut 2". Need 48 of each.

Belfry this is why I use a method that is over-sized so they can be trimmed to size. HST triangle papers make perfect squares but I hate removing the paper! Rhonda's method also makes a perfect HST but I think it is more wasteful than other methods.
