When I make pinwheels, I like to trim only the inner corner, then sew them together and then do a final trim at 4.5"

I'm assuming we need to be careful to make sure all the pinwheels are going the same direction.

Does anyone know what value the background fabric is? I'm confused, as usual

Did I misunderstand? Is the one blade block supposed to be 4 1/2 or is the completed pinwheel supposed to measure 4.5?

My yellow is the background fabric. And it does NOT matter what value it is, it only needs to Stand out from your pinwheels and the pieces that will be coming next week from your fabrics. Make it high contrast - it doesn't matter what the color. It just needs to Not blend in.

the completed pinwheel will measure 4-1/2" when pressed, it will be 4" when sewn into the quilt. You are making 2-1/2" HSTs, and four of them will make one pinwheel.

I grew up in upstate NY, too, Rochester, right on the lake when those winds from Canada dumped literally tons of the stuff all across the lakefront and into the southern tier. I now live where I never have to shovel snow again! Where did you grow up?

Beautiful batik Dotty. I'm not sure what these values are ,but I like what I picked out.LOL. Thanks to Judy I can make hst with little troubles now. We have made tons of them in the last several train rides and some block of the month and week I made. I used to hate making them. Thanks Judy. These are my fabrics and enough for I think 3 blocks to make a runner. The colors are much brighter and happier.

I don't remember seeing your fabrics the first week, Mary. Love those pansies.
