I just want to remind everyone that if you would like to pick a star block for us one month, send me a pm and let me know what month you would like to pick. We still have months no one has signed up for.

Ok, does anyone have any tips or helpful links on how to do stars for the first time? I may try this BOM too. TIA!

I am sure that once a block is posted and pictures are posted there will be lots of tips and hints on how to do each one. Most stars are made with half square triangles, which, once you learn how to make them accurately, are really easy to do.

    Cheryl
Hi Cheryl, hope you do join us. It's really hard to predict how much fabric would be needed. It all depends on what you want to do. Do you want a really scrappy quilt? Do you want the background the same on all the blocks. Each particular block will not take much fabric, but if you want the background of all 12 blocks to be the same, of course, you would more of that one fabric. Some blocks may only need 2 colors, other blocks may take 3 or 4. So, if you have made any quilts at all in the past, you may have some pieces that may be suitable for some of the blocks. See why it's so hard to tell what you may need overall?

If nothing else, pick up a few fat quarts that you like and give it a try.
Thanks for responding. Yes, I do understand the difficulty. I like the fat quarter idea. I'll go that route. Thanks!

for you ladies who have done this b4, should we pick a color scheme to work with throughout the year or do they turn out ok just using up stash?

It depends on whether you are a person who likes a more organized look with just a couple of fabrics or someone who likes the scrappy look. I actually like it both ways, but for this one I think I will make my background the same on all and have all the stars be different so I can use up my stash.
