Maybe someone can answer this ? for me. I searched through the software and the website and could not find the answer. Is there a way to keep up with completed blocks in the software other than scanning each block and saving it? I would love to be able to see what I have completed so I do not redo planning and printing when researching a block. (Seems a pain to have to keep the paperwork handy...but if that is what I must do then I will adapt. Seems the software costs enough to have this as a feature.) TIA

Pewa88, a long time ago there was a link on the DJ website where you could save pictures of your completed blocks in a chart, but it's no longer available. It looked like the one on DottyD's website (http://www.dotsbjwall.talktalk.net/)
It certainly does seem that EQ should provide one, or perhaps someone on the DJ website could develop another one. In the meantime take a look at the pictures CindyA and I posted last summer. Our handmade charts have really helped keep track of the finished blocks and the fabrics used. They're post nos. 1382 and 1383 on page 70 for me. I show 20 posts on a page, so if you show less, the page number will be higher.

pewa88, I do not have the software, so can't answer your question. I can tell you how I'm keeping track, though. I printed out the schedule Gus gave us. When I complete a block I put a check beside it. I also drew lines on graph paper and put the number of each block in the squares (i.e. the top row reads A1, A2, and so on). When I complete the block I cut a 1/2" square of the primary fabric I used for that block and glue it on the graph paper in it's proper spot. Very old school, I know, but fast and easy enough and then I can look at the paper and gauge how my colors are spaced out. I was trying to do it on the computer, using the pics I take and post here, but it was just too big a pain. This is way faster and easier, and right at my finger tips.

Thanks Cindy. I looked at your post and that is a great idea. I need to do this so I don't have to sift through blocks to check what fabrics I have used.

Cre, just read your post #1970. i did not realize that you were skipping around somewhat, but heavy on the easy. to begin with. if i had have realized that, i would have prob followed along with you here. sorry i didn't catch that to begin with. but that is what i did with this 2nd DJ.
AND SORRY LADIES ., when i started putting my sashings together, i measured the lst jane, AND I DID do the 1/2 in finished sashings on the lst DJ. i told you all wrong earlier. so sorry i was mistaken in remembering. all i can claim is ''old age'.
I hope everyone is actually finishing their Jane. it is possible. just a little at a time. but then dig in your heels, and hit it hard again. make something else that needs making, then dig in your heels, and work on jane again., etc.
that is what i am doing , by doing my sashings. i still needed to make 3 blocks when i started my sashings, but have done all the sashings, except the center 2 rows. and last nite, i made one block, and sewed it in. 2 more blocks to do. But now i need to do 3 more sides of tri's. doing those in order. hang in there ladies.
CRE, you are soooo good at these blocks, and the instructions, you just amaze me.
OMG. that center block in pst 1970 is one of the 2 blocks i have left to do!!!!!
AND i did do a material chart with 1 inch pieces of the material i used in each block , with this 2nd DJ. and i think it helped a lot. sorta balanced out my choice of colors.

Thanks for the kudos sewNso that block on 1970 is one of my favorites. I did follow the basic sewing recommended at the thatquilt.com site

I finally made a graph paper chart myself with fabric swatches on it. I am almost finished with it [about 12 empty spaces for the center blocks - havent done the tris yet] I started simply putting pieces of the blocks I had completed, then I thought - I spend more time deciding what fabrics to use then actually sewing. If I am serious about trying to complete my Jane for my guild's show this September, I have to speed things up and make the fabric decisions now. Therefore - no sewing this past week. I surrounded myself with my Civil War fabrics and my chart and decided which fabrics should go where. It was a very lengthy process and I was real frustrated at one point because I did not have nor could I find any yellows I liked in my stash nor at local quilt shops...not even at Road to California - a huge quilt show out here with hundreds of vendors. I went online and found some great fabrics online at reproductionfabrics.com. In fact I ordered a couple of pink fabrics with larger prints and a great fabric for J-3 which shows a multi-print. They should arrive by the end of the week and then I will post a picture of my chart. It won't show which ones are complete unfortunately. But I have pinned the block number to each fabric piece so I can find it. I have the fabrics I used in another container. What I also discovered is that I repeated fabric in three sets of blocks... oh well!

I go on a 3 1/2-day quilt retreat a week from tomorrow and my Jane is all I intend to take this time. I just hope to do more than catch up ???
    Gus

    Default Making progress

Making progress. Have decided to go block by block so I can do rows in order. A plan that hopefully will keep me moving this project along. My blocks are not perfect but acceptable to me. Row B is now finished.
