Morning Lyn Hut, my blocks are 12 finished also. I am glad you've done the math. I haven't so far. Silly as it sounds since it is going to be a big quilt. I think I'll make mine 7 x 7 blocks with the 2 inch sashing. One star will be on the back. Probably my least favorite. The little stars as you can see, come together quilt easily. I cut a 2 1/2 x 12 1/2 strip and added four 1 inch squares as flippy corners. With the corner stone, it forms a star. The flying geese would have made 4 inch sashing, an even bigger quilt. Yikes!

Gorgeous blocks!!!
Scrappy star sashing is brilliant!

I think I made about 45 (10") blocks for mine, but I set the quilt on point and used 1/2 blocks for the sides and monkeyed with this and that, so finished top is 97"X97". The quilter has it but it will be a few weeks before it gets back. Certainly the biggest quilt I've ever made.

Michigan was the fiddliest block to me and I don't like the California block at all. I split it in half and used it on the side.

Keep up the great work and momentum!

Thanks KalamaQuilts! I am sure I saw the star sashing somewhere on this board, for anyone looking for easy sashing, that's it. It sure helps that the large stars are basicly the same shape as the cornerstone stars. I wish I had done 10 inch blocks, it's the biggest one I've made also. I try to work ahead on the blocks so now I am struggling thru Michigan. It will definitely stall me for a while.

I'm a little late this week. I've been trying to get some Easter gifts made for the ggk's and fighting the embroidery machine.

Love all the blocks and the beautiful colors.

Here are my last of the fifty stars that I will post....my swan's song...the end for me. Dr. said I am going blind in my right seeing eye because the Optic Nerve has swollen up...left eye died in 1999 when the optic nerve there blew out. Nothing medical science can do for it...just hope and prayers now. I have 'dimmed' vision today reminding me to get my affairs in order and help dh of forty eight years to take over the reins of our life together...reversal of of many things...bookkeeping, etc., . Best of luck to all of you.Hawaii, last one.

QuiltingNinaSue, you are in my prayers. Your message made me cry. I hope for the best for you. You will be missed on the boards, I have enjoyed reading your messages and love your red, white and blue theme. My son wants me to make him a red white and blue quilt so maybe 50 stars are coming his way. Take care. Tish
