Okay, so I can't wait to see all of them. Don't have much time these days, but love to ride along and bring things to the club car from time to time. I see the scrappy's starting to take shape and say, oh yes, that is what I will do, then I see the constant light with scrappy darks, and think or I could that, I have one big piece I need to use up, then the all controlled and there I go down another avenue. Maybe I'll just do crib sizes as that is what I tend to do for "Home for Little Wanderers" and do one of each. Need to fit it in where I can, talking about it doesn't get it done now does it. Will this work for crib size to down size the amounts or will that take away from the overall pattern look?

Marion love those greens. DD. I think batiks would be great for this quilt since your doing reds. There are lots of redds in batiks. Janie I really love the floral and aqua. These quilts are gonna really be wonderful to see in the end. So different.

Dot & AnngelAnne thanks for the suggestion. JoAnn is the only store we have in this area. I haven't gotten to drive the half hour to the other stores, each in a different direction, lol, of course. I went through my hand dyes and batiks but couldn't find any reds. They all seems to turn pink. I was actually thinking about trying to dye my own but not sure I'm that brave.

Judy is at it again. I did a few and they were fun. I'm in ovr my head right now. I made crazy quilt pillow tops in Feb. They are for Christmas. Now I can't find them! I'm also into my Storm At Sea English paper pieced quilt. It's in all blues/aquas and white. It's going together so quickly, I'm really surprised. All those triangles and 2 squares. I love the movement. i'll be in the club room watching what you are all doing. Judy is great at this. Maybe next one I'll be done with the SAS quilt and can join in on the fun. Till then, everyone enjoy the fun ride.

    Dd,
I find a lot of non-quilter’s just don’t get fabric selection. If I were you I’d just go with finding a burgendy or other dark red tone on tone to go with the reds or make it a red, white, & black quilt. Tell her you don’t have a tie dye to go with the colors & JoAnn’s only has a very limited selection of fabrics specifically good for quilting.
I come from a small area too so I’m a frequent visitor to Etsy & try to save up a little so I can buy fabric from a shop or 2 every couple of months. Watch their shipping prices. They vary highly but a lot of times they’ll discount the shipping prices depending on how much yardage you buy. In some shops it’s the same $4.50 to $6.50 to ship 1 yd as to 6 yards at once so make sure to ask, it varies highly shop to shop. Once I find a couple bits of yardage in one shop I then go through the whole shop to see if they might have other stuff I want to buy from them & combine shipping. You can put your fabric selections in your cart from different shops & in the end compare which is the best deal with the best fabrics for your project & money. It’s best to use the Etsy app to search too bc you can filter your results to just include fabrics & not things, like purses or clothes, made by that particular fabric. My fabric purchases often get to me in about 3 or maybe 4 days. Just an idea that I hope might help.

I thought about doing the red, white and black but then Judy said you needed 2 colors plus the white and dark. I can't tell you how many quilts I have ever made but this one is really bugging me. Maybe it's because of who it's for. I guess I will do white, red scraps and black. I have a piece of tie dye with all the colors in that I can use for the back but I'm not sure it's big enough. I may have to add something to it. Now that I have written this, I must stick to this and just reduce the stress factor, right? Yes, Right! Thanks craftyjulz and everyone else for your help. I'm still finishing #19 mystery quilt. lol

Thanks for that clue Conchalea. I tried it but still dont know. Because the leaf fabric is dark AND light, i reckon I'll just call it my Medium. Do we still need to have a neutral?

DD: I am the Queen of Tie Dye. My art students did so much, my principal put a washing machine in my classroom.
If not now, you should try it. Michaels has very good supplies. Our friend Lynnie did socks for her Bee for gifts. It is messy fun! Dotty
