I just had a thought . I'll bet she doesn't draw the 1/4 seam allowance in the book because if someone wanted to reduce the pattern, the seam allowance wouldn't be correct. I'm thinking about making the stars different sizes.

My book arrived yesterday! Still haven't figured out a color scheme so I guess I'll have to go browsing for fabric, oh darn. I like the idea of scrappy though, could use up some stash. But I'm tired of my stash (it isn't all that big, just one drawer) and would like to start the year bright and cheerful.

No the book does not have the outside seam allowance. So just make inlarge or decrease as you wish and then draw your seam allowance. If you have the cd with the patterns this will not be a issue. You could do what I do and pic a focus fabric and add fabric from your stash.

I have this book and the CD. I bought it when I took my first and only paper piecing class. This was the book we used. I quit after 3 blocks because we were using their fabric and a black background which I wasn't crazy about. i did use one of the blocks as the center of a round robin and it is beautiful.

I recieved my book and cd friday. Yay! Had a chance to play with it a little yesterday. Boy do I need the practice. I expect I will get faster and more comfortable as I go along. Now to pick out my background fabric. Something that will go with anything since most of the blocks will be scrappy.

You are a speedy girl PokerDiva! I am still deciding about my color scheme and how I want to do that, but will be posting the Alabama block as soon as I can. Each week comes quickly when you're making blocks for a challenge...I'm looking forward to this!
