Pat, thanks for the reminder. DST has me off today too, plus I have been working on my layout all day. I am doing QAYG in 7 sections; more complicated than usual to cut sashing strips.

    Here is my Vermont.

This is the first time I'm looking here and boy did I miss a lot! Those stars look so complicated but are they really? I'm very tempted to buy the book and start too. So please ladies, tell me, how hard is it? I love love love what you all did!

Welcome Anael! You are talented and you can do this! The book has a CD with the patterns and very detailed instructions. It is not difficult to make beautiful blocks.

Thank you Nicky for the welcome, the compliment on my skills and the encouragement. I think I'm going to order the book

Anael, Wish you had been with us from the beginning, in January. Seems so long ago. We started with about 30 people but now have under ten. It's been a journey but even though the end is in sight, we'll still be posting finished products for a while and we would love to see your stars, and anyone else's, posted here.

I will post my pics here when I start. First I have to order the book! Didn't do that yet. I'm not sure I will be able to make one star a week next year as my DDIL is having triplets (due April) so I will be busy once they arrived!

I just ordered the book Can anyone tell me how much background fabric I need? I want all starts with the same background but I have no idea how much I should buy.

Funny you should ask!! I was just figuring out if I had enough to finish my stars and I am short. But it depends on how you are going to lay them out. I was planning on staggering mine (like the USflag) so I need plain blocks at the ends of rows and that is what I am short. If you are going to put them straight, with sashing, you won't need that extra. I will try to remember what I bought. We discussed this toward the beginning and were surprised at how much it would take. Maybe someone else who used the same background can say. Also, you sure don't have to finished them in a year.

Thanks whitepine, I will put them straight with sashing, at least that's the plan!
