Earlier in the year I did a trial trapunto setting triangle using my embroidery machine which turned out pretty good, but was a real hassle to try to get set up right, so I decided to do them using the method Patti did a tutorial for a while back. I spent the whole afternoon working on this. I didn't want to mess with the bias on the triangles, so worked on them as a large square and did the trapunto before I cut it apart into the triangles. I had originally thought about doing the stitching in red to match my embroidery, but decided I didn't want my bad stitching to be that front and center, so I used dark blue thread to match the fabric. It is certainly far from perfect, but I think they are acceptable. I still have six more to do. Maybe by the time I get them all done I'll be a little better at it. Patti keeps saying it's fun, but I haven't got to that point yet - it's still hard work for me. Thanks so much, Patti, for the tutorial. I would have never attempted this without it.

Cute pics Luv, and the laptop bag is unique! Perhaps all her fellow students will be clamouring for you to make one for them!

Judy your trapunto looks really good to me - you to will have a unique quilt.

Judy, I love your Tarpunto...gonna be one smashing quilt.

OK, I was playing with layouts yesterday on EQ..and I think I am going to do all the blocks on point with no middle section..I may just do the 32 blocks layout or with one extra column to make it a square I'll need 41 blocks..so I may just make five more blocks with just embroidery designs and place them in the center and four corners. My setting triangles will have an embroidery design that I am still thinking about. I need to stay on the look out for a fabric for my sashings and inner border, I want some golden metallic batik of some sort..or just golden metallic in chocolate and Autumn hues that go with my block...depends on what I find. Now for the outer border I know I am not doing the hearts in the book, but not sure what I will do yet..need to dream up some more about this.

Thanks, Candi. Sure is a lot of learning of new techniques and figuring out what you want to do with this quilt. Makes my poor old brain tired.

Judy, I agree with you---too many new things for my pea brain too!

I have finished the 16 center blocks (not yet embroidered though) and started on # 7. I have been searching for a border fabric and think I have at last found one. I tried not to buy anything new, but couldn't tackle any of the wonderful techniques you guys are doing for borders.

Hopefully I will finish all my embroidery while on vacation and will post pics when I return the last week in June.
