I am planning on 7 inch blocks and queen sized, but i think enlarging the blocks would be more practical. So my mind is not set. I love the cream colored sateen!
    Thanks for writing :)
If you do the designs as 7in blocks, and make the quilt just as in the book, your quilt will only be 62in x 62in. So to get a Queen size quilt, you will have to make more blocks, either by designing more yourself, or repeating some of Aie's designs, OR you will have to enlarge the blocks OR do as some of the others are doing and put your blocks on point, with plain blocks between them.

See page 57 of this thread for some ideas of sizes.

Thanks for posting the link to the trapunto Judy. I will be doing it in a very similar way on this quilt. I'll attach a pic of the design that I'm using . I will sew the center section together prior to sewing the poly batting to the blocks for this quilt because I'm not going to Quilt As You Go. So...after trimming the unwanted extra batting, I'll then quilt as normal.

Thanks so much for the link Judy!

Patti, your border ideas sound beautiful!!! I'm so anxious to see what you do!!! :-D

Edit: Gee, I guess I should have kept reading the posts, huh??  Love what you're doing!!!!

I do have a question about the use of wash-away thread for the trapunto. Won't the trapunto design disappear once the quilt is washed? (Or maybe I didn't read far enough along in the trapunto tute??    ) I would like to try trapunto sometime, but I would hate to do all that stitching only to have it disappear.

Patty....the wash away thread is only to hold the extra batting in place until you quilt as normal. You sew over the wash away stitches with your regular quilting thread. When you wash the quilt at the end you will only have the regular thread left, but your additional batting will be held in place.

    *...keep reading the tute...;)

Well, just like I thought!! I stopped reading much too soon!!   Sorry. I'll go sit in my corner now.

Your quilt is going to be so beautiful! You are so creative to add the trapunto. I've seen it in a couple of your other quilts and so admire what you do. Can you bottle that skill and creativity and send me some??!! :-D :-D

Patty, thank you, actually this quilt was painted and I hand quilted the whole thing. I raffled it off so my daughter could be ambassador to People to People and she went to Australia.
