Just finished my Scottish Cross BOM for April 1. I liked the block, it was easy but looks hard. I think I'll try making it using the quick method for making the hourglass blocks by putting 2 pieces of the fabric (in my block the blue and white blocks) right sides together and sewing scant 1/4 " on either side of diagnal line through the middle of the 2 blocks corner to corner then cutting them apart so you now have a block half blue and half white. Lay the blue/white block right side up with the blue on the top. Lay the white/blue block right side down over the blue/white block so now you have the white part of the block in the same position as your blue/white block so if you flip half the top block over you can see the full hourglass. Sew scant quarter inch on each side of the white/blue block diagnally and cut from corner to corner. You now have 2 hour glass blocks. It takes awhile to type out the directions but this speed method is quicker for me. Here's my block per Quilterscache directions.

I really like the colors of the blocks that everyone made.
I'd make one since I'm FINALLY done with the Heart Quilt, but it seems the youngest wanted to make a quilt of her own. Soooo, we have been making a scrappy quilt. Well, I"m mainly watching to make sure she doesn't sew her fingers together or cut one of them off.
It's going slow, but she'll get there.

    Thanks conblond2005.

Feathers, I see that you do indeed like the red, white and blue. When the link first opened it came up on the pic of your block, which looks awesome by the way, and had to do a double take, cause all I saw was the colors, not the print of the fabric, and almost thought is was the one I did.

One of our daughter's B'day is the 5th. I'll think of you on the 5th each year and wish you a great day when I do that for our DD.

    Hi Mary:
I didn't mean to copy your but those are the scraps I wanted to use so I went for it. Our blocks are similar but I think your colors look so much crisper and brighter than mine. I like them both.
