having Terri from guam on call for 9 trillion pm messages to figure this out.... I've decided that after doing this one, if I ever am in charge of a block of the month, we are just going to cut out a 12 inch square of fabric and be done with it :):) I say this all in jest, it was a good learning experience :):):) Cathy M

i have started to shy away from paper piecing when the points extend all the way to the corners of a block. the intersections get too lumpy for my personal preference. i can't control the pressing as i go, and i think most of you can probably guess just how BIG of a control freak i am.
this is not paper pieced. if i planned to make several, i'd rotary cut. for just this one, though, i used paper templates (so i wouldn't have to fiddle with trying to cut the triangles on such a wierd angle and because it gives me those lovely little notches at the corners that help in lining up the patches); lots if spray starch to stabilize the stretchy parts across the bias; and pins at the joins. also pressed open to minimize lumps. there are two gafarbles but i can live with them. as long as they stay out of my cookie jar.
