Well, I tried! LOL Maybe I should have put a border around it like some of you did then my side seams would be hidden for nobody to see how bad they came together..... I'm just glad I got thru it! LOL

Your block is beautiful! Good job and nice choice of fabric colors. I tried making this block and wasn't AT ALL happy with the outcome. Mine won't even become a potholder which is the usual ending for blocks I make that I'm not happy with, didn't like making or those that are more trouble than I think they are worth! Keep up your good work!

OK..... I ATTEMPTED the Cabbage Rose block today and this is what I have to say about Paper Piecing!!!
My Take on Paper Piecing
I love to cut and piece my blocks, I’ve even learned to like appliqué
So for a challenge for myself, I tried paper piecing today
After stitching the first part and turning it over and finding my first mistake
I reached for my seam ripper, dropped a quarter in my jar, and ate a piece of cake
What a waste of good material, I kept thinking to myself
I would rather have kept the fat quarters all pretty on my shelf
After the second and third mistakes were made I conceded….I was beat!
I will never again attempt paper piecing, and award those who have accomplished this feat!
I have no hair left on my head and the cuss jar? ….well, it’s full!
The attempted block is in the trash, my nerves have taken their toll.
I’ve probably gained about five pounds from all the goodies I’ve eaten
And normally I am not the type of person who’ll admit when I’ve been beaten
By something so seemingly simple, yet it was probably worth a try
I’m going to go clean up the mess I made and have myself a good cry!
(No offense intended for those who have chosen or plan to choose paper piecing!!! I wanted you all to know how my first attempt went and thought you might get a good laugh out of it! LOL)

Psssst!!! Can you keep a secret?
I've done paper piecing lots of times but that Cabbage Rose gave me a run for my money, too. my particular problems were (1) it had been so long since the last time, I'd forgotten how to work upside down and inside out ... so scraps that looked the right size and shape weren't; and (2) i kept losing track of which color went where.
but the mistakes looked sooooooo pretty peeking out from the other stuff in the trash can, i guess i forgave myself. ;-)
maybe someday you'll be in the mood to try again with a different pattern. if not ... stick to what's fun and we'll all be tickled pink for ya. at least you can say you tried. you don't have to go sit in the bowl on Kathy's porch.
:P
