Thanks Marcella, I wish I knew about paper piecing when I did a quilt for my friend. I would have more hair on my head. lol

Here is a pic. Looks good after being professionally quilted, but take my word for it, my stars are not like yours. Mary

Thanks, Patsy, that was my first try at the dreaded y-seam. I didn't exactly plan on putting white next to white when I set them in, but it turns out that ploy disguises a world of wonky-ness. We all had issues with the directions for that block at Sylvia's Bridal Sampler (block # F-9)

If you decide to try it, let me know, and I will p.m. a little visual aid. :-) It's not so scary, realllly! Just a little step into an alternate universe. ha!

    go sit in the bowl

Now was that nice? Hmm? Remember, I shared my star with you. You can clearly tell from that that Y-seams are not to be trusted! Yucky, nasty little Y-seams. Stay far, far away from them C. Quilter! They are not safe!! They drive you mad :!:

CQ don't listen to her! She started me on my road to madness!

Mary! What a wonderful gift that was to make. Marsha be a very dear friend indeed. Those stars look plenty pointy from here. You are the queen of non-foundation piecing!

what makes you think i've never had to sit in the bowl myself? do you see my June 1 block up there yet?

that bowl is too small to fit both me and my quilting equipment.

in terms of my own skills, i'll take a Y-seam over traditional applique every day. i just wish i didn't like it ALL so much. then i could ignore something and not feel as though i MUST get good at it.

lucky for me i'm still young and have lots and lots of time. no hurries. no worries.

Marcella thanks for the compliment, but far from true. Marsha is a dear friend and thats why I tried to make her quilt special. Actually she loved it, but those stars, like I said I wish I had tried pp before I attempted this. I must thank whoever it was that came up with that pp block. It was hard, but better than regular piecing. I really like pp a lot.

Mary, by the way your blocks are great.

The star is beautimous!!!!!! Good job. I will probably stick to applique for a while, till my stock in fusible webbing skyrockets and I sell out to buy more fabric. I don't know if I oculd do traditional applique anymore, now that I have found fusible webbing!
