Feathers, don't be afraid. PP makes those points so much easier to accomplish... & if it takes more than one attempt we will never know... unless you want to confide in us... We won't tell... Honestly...

Really, looking at that runner in your avatar lets me know you got some skills & you can do it!! :D 8)

use the snot to embellish the block. you could start a whole new fad for fearful folks. and quilting mommies everywhere will have a reason to not dread the cold & flue season quite so much.

yes. it's true. i'm ... how shall we say? ... NUTS!!!

i've been using one standard background fabric for all the BsOM. then i sit down with my scrap bag next to me. the only thing i allow myself to "think" about is whether the scraps are big enough for the patch and how they look against their nearest neighbor. and i don't give myself permission to cut into a not-scrap fabric unless i can't find enough scraps of the same fabric and right size to make the "focus" patches.

it takes longer because i have to root around in the bag so often, but it helps me to (1) go "scrappy" and (2) go wild. and makes me feel less guilty about the ever-growing yet soooo neglected scrap bag.

And the results are stunningly FANTABULOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :D  :D

On a serious note for a minute, I can't get over the 3-D effect of each of the blocks posted because of the way each of you used color & placement. The BOM is progressing at such an exciting rate!! I love to see such beautiful work, ESPECIALLY from people learning a new skill!! It really makes me proud to be a quilter and part of such a wonderful group of people... Now, if I can EVER get home & put some of this energy into some work of my own.

I guess I should be posting all of this in the other thread, huh? Sorry...

Thank you Jessie's mom. I flubbed up on a version of it and it has since grown into the possible center for a medallion quilt. You just never know until you give it a go where it will take you. i really enjoy seeing everyones color play with these blocks. Now to catch up on the ones I have missed!

These blocks were FUN! I kept the Cabbage Rose at 8" but reworked the Spiderweb Star to 6"
