This is Sandra Jennings' Cabbage Rose. A lovely, opulant interpretation.

i "saw" two or three quilt possibilities right away when i looked at it. love it.

This is my Tutti Fruiti Spider Star. I was reminded of two things while putting it together:

    1. the importance of clipping away the excess seam allowance before adding the next triangle
    2. press the way the block and fabrics want to go

i also learned that soft, stretchy fabrics (like my marbled pink background) are not good candidates for this block. i should have starched the heck outof it first.

I'm pretty sure if i take those steps the next time around, my points will all be pointier and it'll end up square instead of whatever you'd call the shape it is now.

p.s. the green sashes were just to test whether or not i could use it in a real quilt without completely burying the points. that's why only two ... both of which will be removed later.

Kathy - Oh! Good...Elvis is still in YOUR building...guess that must be why he lift MINE!

Patrice - I love your Tuti Fruity and Sandra, I like your cabbage block but I'm not sure I'm up to doing either of them this month. All those points have me running scared!

Patrice, I love your block and I cannot see anything wrong with your points. Also I love the colors. I hope I will someday not be so intimidated by color. When someone else uses lots of color, I love it, but I get all confused when thinking about too many colors.
