You quilters were having so much fun waiting for sulabug to post the instrucions and I was all bored somewhere else! Love the exitement about this BOM. My first one but love it so far. Cannot wait for the next month!

Question: Do you tie a knot at the begining and end of each seam when PP?

OK. sitting here reading all the comments and had to look at the pics thread too... so I'm going to jump in and try this BOM thing. This will be my first. The church is just calling my name, i think if I like it after adding the next few blocks it may just be my nephews wedding present for an Aug 2011 wedding, somehow starting at a church just sounds right for a wedding quilt/wall-hanging?....?

I have located the quilt that our guild made for the ME State raffle -- it was called 99 houses --

What is a house?? there were barns, bird houses, dog houses, lighthouses, a house on stilts from a member who had livid in the Phillipines.]
A house is where something/somebody lives.
    THIS QUILT IS GORGEOUS!

Do not feel that your house fabric has to look like wood or bricks or aluminum siding. I saw an artist once who literally pulled fabric at random from her stash to make houses. The wall may have had fish, the roof might have been polka dots, and the sky might have had monkeys. Sounds crazy, but it worked.
What a Gorgeous House block!! Thank you so much for posting your picture for everyone to see. I am just drooling over your picture!!

I have been trying for two days now to get my pattern to EXACTLY 1". The closest I can seem to get is 15/16". Will it really matter to be off by a 16th ? (I can't believe how much paper and ink I've wasted).

    Hi all,
Just joined this project because I am collecting house blocks in the monthly quilting bee. The more, the better my quilt! I like the bright & bold so I thought I'd share this with you! Dotty

I have a question. I would like to play along with the houses bom. What I need to know is if I have to paper piece the blocks that are for paper piecing or can I just piece those blocks? I don't know how to paper piece but I want to obey the "rules".haha. Also can we embellish the blocks as desired or do we have to leave them plain? I will be watching this thread for your answers. Thank you, Patti

There are great practice instructions on the site where this month's block is found and it can all be printed...and i found it to be very fun and almost easy for a first time paper piecer.
