The 2011 BOM theme, for the 1st of each month, will be Houses.

There was an overwhelming response to do Houses this year. I am excited to be part of this selection & I hope that everyone who joins us, will have as much fun. There are several free patterns on quilterscatche.com and other sites around the internet. The blocks will vary in size, but we are looking to each person to add to them, to make the block 12 1/2". This is where you can add your own touch & make them more personalized for yourselves. I hope everyone is excited to get started on January 1st. We will be asking for volunteers to sign up to choose a block of thier choice for each of the twelve month's of 2011. Blocks will most likely be an assortment of "regular" pieced, paper pieced, or applique.

I will be starting with January & will post the block I have chosen, on 1 January 2011. Let's get ready to have some FUN!! :D

To volunteer to choose for us, just send me a PM. :D

Remember...you don't have to sign up for this, anybody who wants to make the blocks can play along.

Since I have never participated in a BOM I have a couple questions. How do i decide what fabric to use? How much fabric will i need? Since I will want it all to coordinate it seems that each block should have some fabric that ties it together?!?Also will we be discussing how the blocks will be arrainged or is that left to individuals? (sashing, borders. etc) Maybe I just need to be more confident but I like plans. thanks all

All good questions. I have belonged to a BOM thru my local quilt shop. The person that owned the shop gave us 3 choices. One was called Warm, then there was one call Cold, and the others were made with Bali pops. After a year of doing the blocks every person one came out very pretty and all different. The Warm and Cold she supplied the pre cut pieces for you to figure out how to put together. After 12 months you have all you BOM, then she gives us a Bonus one in case we wanted to do an off set quilt.

But I have the same questions on how much fabric we would need on these blocks, I am excited to work on houses.

Will the people participating be notified when the first block is ready or do we need to remember to check the Board every first of the month?
