Thanks for the URL, Patrice. I'll check it out.

I learned to quilt from an absolutely marvelous 75 year old woman who learned to do it as a child. We sewed our first five projects by hand - every patch and block. She was a real stickler for exactness, so it kind of rubs off. She also taught us to quilt by hand. I'm not very good at it, but I keep trying. I posted a project that was done last year on my introduction. I'm very proud of the final product.

Last year, our teacher decided that we were making her too tired to continue, so we have been on our own - teaching each other. It's fun but challenging.

I'm not sure if it is the quilting or chasing the 22 month old that climbs out of his baby bed (my last resort). :(
I'm really trying to watch portion sizes, and I eat lots of Boca Burgers and veggie dogs! I love soy, though.
I changed my turtle to a bunny yesterday. He's facing the opposite way. I might have to change to something else if he starts hopping the wrong way! LOL!
    Thanks!!

Well, kinda tricky in that you don't fly the distress signal of upside down flags... you done good. Those flags all seem to line up nicely.

Thank you, I did like the way it came out, and for me Old Glory should always fly straight.

I had a bit of trouble with the block also, and you can bet money the seam riper got a workout, but I was determined to get the flags upright.

hello everyone, well i read the instructions i don't know how many times and i still couldn't figure it out. So did it a bit different and came up with this. It didn't come up being 12x12, mine is 11x11. But when i have more time i'm going to redo it and hopefully come up with the proper measurements. I sure like all the colors everyone else has come up with, nice work everyone, happy quilting, Denise.

my points didn't turn out great either, so i'm definitely going to do it over, i'm picky when it comes to being straight and points being right. heehee.

Well, Denise, for not following the directions per se, your block looks great. I love the contrast. I know what you mean about wanting to be just right with the points. Again, Great Job!!!

my guess regarding the "odd" size is that it happened when you measured and cut for your Half-Square Triangles. those suckers can be tricky!

try this set of templates for HST. they print on legal paper (8.5 x 14)
for a 12" block (12.5" unfinished), use page 2 and make the 3" HST.

lay your two fabrics right sides together with the templates on top. sew on blue, cut on red. press to the dark.

I just finished the March Block. I decided to do them all in Christmas material. This was fun. Looking forward to April's.
