mine will 8". if I know Yvonne and Marcella, theirs will be ... like ... 6" or 4". so ... you get NO sympathy here.

nephtys ... 2 colors will be quite fine. i was seriously considering using only one. that way, it'd be harder to see the puckers and other wonky bits.

I'm new here but I love to jump right in. I had already printed
out the Dunkard's Path and was looking forward to trying it.
Sew I printed out the Morning Star as I love star blocks! A
couple questions do you take the whole month for them both
and just post questions plus a photo when done?

OK..newbie here. In the block a month...how do we know how much fabric to get? I'm too new to have a stash and my quilt store is closing so I won't be doing their block/month. They gave us little kits

Freda ... please feel free to take as long as you need. we don't have a deadline. post questions as comments as you want or need to. and YES, PLEASE let us see photos when you're finished - whenever that might be.

Dcurvey ... i'm afraid it would be impossible to tell you how much fabric to get unless i know the size block you plan to make, how many fabrics, etc. it varies from block to block. i've been working mostly out of my scrap bag since i make only one of each block. (ok. time for honesty. i make only one worth keeping. sometimes it takes more than one try to get it right. i have such pretty trash! LOL)

i don't think we've made any yet that would use more than 1/4 yard of any one fabric. some people buy fat quarters for each block. i assume they use the scraps later for something else. however, since fat quarters cost a lot more than buying a regular 1/4 yard, you should buy them only if you collect them for all or most of your quilting needs. less expensive to just buy a cut 1/4 yard.

Thank you that is great advise. I'm in the process of making room to create a stash so I'll by 1/4 yards of fabric I like and have at it for next month.
