I am seriously considering QAYG myself. Not real sure I can keep up with the stitching rows together suggestion I had made in the schedule if I do decide to do so since it would require me to have each square quilted before joining them with sashing. However, QAYG makes it almost complete when you finish your last blocks because as Jacquie said - all that is left is putting on the backing and stitching in the ditch.

I just ordered silk thread for the applique work. I had done an applique pillow now long ago and all my threads showed. Silk thread is much finer and sinks into the fabric. I hoping it will be better for these small pieces. Will let you know how it works out.

I've been using the silk thread and I like it much better than any other thread. I use the same cream color on everything and it doesn't show at all; so even though it's more expensive than some other thread, I've found I only need one color so I'm saving on thread. At least that's true using Civil War fabrics with a muslin background. I'll probably get a couple of spools of white or a lighter cream since the next DJ is going to have a white background. It's a little trickier to work with, but worth the trouble.

You'll like the silk thread. I ordered a range of colors from CT and enjoy using it. It does tend to disappear, but I still highly recommend that you match your piece you are sewing down rather than the background. You'll notice a huge difference in how your stitches seem to disappear.

Sandpat, I did order the blue cause my DJ will be royal blue and white. I also ordered a pale gray just to have on hand.

couple of things Carole, first - look at the upper right corner of each post - there is a post # - Lesley's tutorial starts at post #3202. In order to find it, you have to know what your general post settings are at. If you go to the top of any page on this board - the second link from the top right is "settings" click on that and look at the column on the left. Scroll down under "my account" and find another link -"general settings" this will open up another screen to the right allowing you to make all sorts of adjustments. One of the adjustments you can make is to change your 'default' posts/page to whatever you want. I think [but I'm not sure] that the board default must be somewhere around 8-10. I have mine set for 20/page [which puts this post on page 29.] You can set it higher or lower if you want - just be sure you go all the way down to the bottom of the page after you have made the changes you want and save the changes.

At 20/page, post #3202 will be on page 161. If ever you want to get to a certain page, go up to your browser [I think that's what it's called but could be wrong... go up to the http://www xxxx thingy ] and change the number right near the end [not always all the way at the end - you will find it before the ".html..." to the number you want. When I go to [Dear] Jane Stickle.... I click on that link and change the page number.

Hope this helps [you know if you have it set for 40/page - just divide 3202 by 40 instead of 20....etc]

hope this helps - the old board allowed you to go to specific pages - would have been waaaay WAAAY easier - dont really know why certain things were dropped - programmer error I guess

    Gus

carole if you follow that link, half way down the page should be 'lacelady's' tutorial.
(number 3202 found in the top right corner of her post)
    i hope you find it!
