sustraley, your borders are off beginning with the white strip, & yes you'll need to be doing some unsewing, measuring. Wish I was closer to help you fix it, so hard to explain here. But remove borders along with the white strip, remeasure all of them, sew all of them back together, measure quilt and do same with border strips, placing pins at center mark & at each end corresponding with width of quilt. Attach to quilt leaving a 1/4" at either end. I then fold quilt aligning top border with the side border making sure everything is even, making sure strips match, using ruler with 45 degree angle and draw my miter, pin & sew beginning from the quilt out to the corner. It all comes with error & practice, practice. I almost always miter my corners because I think it makes the quilt look more professional, more finished, if that is possible. I hope this helps along with the tips from others and isn't too overwhelming. Once you learn how to do miter corners & find out how easy they really are, that is all you'll want to use in the future. Good luck, it will turn out beautiful.

Su: I am a total newbie at miters, as a matter of fact the one on my medallion was the first one. I Googled it and found a great tut explaining the process. The one I used was the one where you attach the border, stop sewing at .25 inch from the corner and then sew a 45 degree angle. It worked perfectly for me. I think I would always join the borders together before I mitered the corners, it makes it easy to prevent wavy borders plus you only have to miter one time on each corner. Absolutely love what you've done so far!

Someone asked me how I did my piano keys because they were a bit different than Elizabrat's. In picture A, I sewed strips (a strip or two for each color I was using), then cut the 'keys' to the size I wanted. In picture B, I alternated the keys, then sewed them together until I had the length of the side. Then I added the blue strips to each side. Hope this makes sense.

    That's pretty Whitepine!

Sustraley: I feel your pain, I've taken out more stitches than I've sewn. It is a learning experience.

Did you folks notice this border. It was posted yesterday by Cindy in the pictures section. It's from the Tyler Quilt Show in Texas. Looks like it might be a fairly easy one to do if you're looking for a geometric. The quilting is very nice.

First of the month is coming quickly! ...at least for me. Did one today and tonight figured out a border for the other one. Only 1 block but I'm making progress and think it will be perfect. I like it on my quilt.
