We started on August 4th. We are doing the blocks in numerical order: 2 blocks per week.
The book comes with a CD that has the templates, but they only put one template per each print page. After you have bought the book, you can go to the Farmer's Wife Sample Quilt site and there you can download the templates. In this version, there are multiple templates on each page.
There is a large message thread that started when AkAngel asked for people who were interested in doing the FW quilt. You can find all the threads for the quilt in the BOM/BOW Topic when you click on Home.
The basics are that you have to buy a book, or borrow from the library. We could get into trouble as a board if we were sharing/using/copying patterns when we haven't bought a book.
Laurie Hird, the author, joined our board just to be able to cheer us on and answer questions.
AkAngel (Muriel) posts the threads for the blocks on Wednesday. There will be a FW Discussion page for the blocks each week, plus a picture page. You can discuss specifics about the blocks in their appropriate discussions. For general discussion, the main thread, which is titled: I Want to Know if Anyone is Interested... (link below)
At the same time, Honchey posts the rotary cutting directions for each block.
There are also ways to do the blocks by paper piecing either using Quilt Assistant, Block Base or EQ. You definitely need to read the threads to find out more about making blocks.
At this point, the group has "worked" through blocks 1-8. Not everyone is going at the same pace. When someone gets done with a block, they post it in the appropriate space for the block number.
There is an "official" slackers club. People are vying for being Queen, etc. But we're always drawn away to rest or go putter around aimlessly! ;-) Just to give you an idea, I've down the first two blocks and have great plans of getting some done tomorrow.
There are also people who have just gotten their books and are starting.
This is just a nutshell. The main discussion is the best place to start and read while you wait for your book to arrive.

Sorry all I've not been online the last couple days, was exhausted all week when I came home from work and this is simply the first chance I've had today.
We had a new furnace put in downstairs, hubby helped with the installation, poor guy he is so stiff and sore he can't hardly move. They will finish the job on Monday as believe it or not the pump had a small leak on a brand new boiler so the installer is replacing it.
WEll hopefully I will be on a bit more tomorrow, haven't even looked at blocks 7&8 so I am definately sitting on my throne this week and not budging an inch and considering I have 3 workshops coming up in less than 2 weeks that I still need to get all the pre-cutting stuff done for I probably won't be looking at them til after the mid of Sept.
geez, barely started and already behind.
