I am trying to work on the blocks in order, but I must confess skipping #7 - Birds in the Air. I will tackle it once I have a few more tiny-tiny HSTs under my belt. Here are my blocks thus far. After taking the photo I noticed duplicates of the Big Dipper, but my DH couldn't spot the duplicates, so maybe I'll keep it as is. I also noticed a lack of red, but an abundance of purple and aqua...have to correct that! Now I'm going to start on #17 & 18, although Century of Progress (#18) is a little scary. Then it's back to my DGD's quilt - Nutcracker Quilt (photos on the board) and finishing the remaining six blocks. Love this pattern and TFW group! Belles

Belles, glad you joined us and shared your blocks thus far. They are great. Some look so three dimensional.
I did Birds one and even tho it would have passed, ripped it apart to do later. Too busy right now with school to work on the others. Hah, if I got off of here maybe I would get them done.

Belles, your blocks are beautiful. Don't you feel a sense of accomplishment with them all together like that? I love the colors but I see what you mean about aqua (my favorite). I notice a lot of black in mine when they're altogether. Well, we have a long way to go and we can add additional colors. Love all your blocks.

Love your color variations. Looks like eye candy to me. Great job.

It is really fun to see them on your display board, great job! I have mine up also, and I so enjoy looking at them. I also notice the "color" problem with mine. Not enough of the lighter fabrics, so went with lighter colors for the next blocks. It is amazing what you spot when they are on display.

Thanks to all for your kind words. It is great to see the blocks together as if in a quilt. I tried to leave some space between them so it looked like sashing. AND, I've just cut fabric for two more blocks (each with some RED!). Sometimes, when I pass the design wall, I can't believe I made such small, complicated blocks. There's a big difference between a Big Dipper and a Bat Wing, both in the construction and the feeling of achievement. Belles

Hi Everyone, I think I've finally (almost) caught up. Just when I thought I had, I read a posting this evening that said we are on Blocks 17 & 18 this week. By my count I thought we were on 15 & 16 and they'd be due on the 5th. Whatever - I'll get there. Life has been hectic and I've woefully been playing "catch up" from the very beginning of this project. I couldn't rest until I had ALL my fabrics for ALL the blocks chosen, purchased washed and folded (and a good bit of them cut...not as many as I'd like cut but at least a month ahead). Now I just have to figure out what blocks I'm supposed to be working on. I haven't even had ANY time to read anything on the board since maybe August 10th or so. So tonight I hope to post all my blocks that I've done to date (and I guess I should repeat this message with each week's photo?) Hopefully I can stay with the group & ask questions of the group instead of pulling my own hair out. I am paper piecing and so far I've enjoyed this, even the frustrations that I have caused myself. I'm pretty sure I can be counted as a "convert" to paper piecing. Can't wait until I find time to look at everyone's posted blocks. Cathy in Baltimore County MD
