If you are appliqueing the handle to the basket....
After prepping the strip, use your iron to help start the curve in the handle.
Shape the handle into a curve and steam it a bit. Then press. Pre-shaping the curve helps it lay flatter to sew it down. (You can use a "template" to shape it if you wish, but any curve added to the bias strip will help. For a template, just use a paper with the handle copied onto it. If you have a lot of curves that are similar, trace the curve onto muslin that you can pin to your ironing board.)

    Have fun,

It's also easier if you sew the inside of the handle before you sew the outside of the handle. makes it smoother too.

Just the opposite of what I did. Live and learn. Next handle, I'm going to do this.

Here's my basket block. Block 3 is the one I butchered by TRYING to machine applique it! I'm redoing it right now. I'll post my new one when I'm done, I just wanted you guys to see this one! LOL!

And here's my block 4. The colors are off a little, must be the flash on the camera. I was using my son's little point and shoot. The "white' is actually a pinkish color.

Pretty blocks! When stitching your handle down, make sure to place it so it doesn't get caught up in the 1/4" seam allowance...

Yep, I figured that out a little too late, LOL!

That block could be a good "What NOT to do"!

    Stefani,
I really like the looks of block 4.
Don't feel alone I have to completely make my basket block over also. I think I figured out the problem but we'll see.

I love your blocks. I would leave them just the way they are. Love how you did the handle.

[Thanks again whoever sent me the book. I think I will have to go to Staples and have them punch holes in it so I can place in a binder. I don't want to wear the pages or binding out. ]

You can go to FedEx office and they will spiral bind for very inexpensive!
