Thank you ladies, it is a 15 inch block (thank God lol).
Hi All, I'm thinking this would be the block to place on the back of the quilt with a label underneath. Although it would be a a shame to hiide it that way. How much smaller could this be made without losing the integrity of it. You mentioned that there were other choices for this block. Where did you find them>
I have Block Base and it's in there. You can choose any size you want.

I tried to find that block on line, just in case somebody wanted it, but all that comes up is the book.

Potentially show-worthy was my goal with this too! And then we went to the MN State Fair last Saturday and I saw the quilts there.....oh dear, show-worthy may be a goal set too high! The winning State Fair quilts were absolutely gorgeous. Many of them were so much applique! Of course there are various categories of quilt submissions but those applique ones were the most beautiful. Lots and lots of work went into them!

I know exactly what you mean. I went to the OR State Fair yesterday and am so in awe of the work that's done on the quilts. Last year, I thought, "No way could I ever do this." This year, I'm thinking, "Maybe so. Won't hurt to try." I'd be very happy just to have one hanging alongside the others, ribbons or not. I'll give it my best and see what happens. You can do it too!

This is how it looks RWQuilts. The entire block was templates. I don't make the plastic templates or the freezer paper either, well sometimes I do.

I just printed out the pattern, cut out the templates, pinned with two pins to the fabric and layed my ruler on the 1/4 inch line and cut wherever there was a straight line. On the curved pieces I cut with sissors.

I can't see going through all the work of plastic templates if I am only going to it once or twice. I did sew all the tempates together to the back of the pattern page and filed it.
Beautiful -- I love it. I have BB too and I went and seeked out those blocks last night.

I will be doing big blocks now and will surround or set them up with the smaller ones I have already made. Here is my idea more or less. I might even put my 15 Dear Jane ones in there and be done lol.....

I am sorry to say that I have come to the realization that the little blocks, as much as I love them, are not giving me happiness lol. Maybe one day I will actually be in the mood to do many small blocks..

Sooo...I will leave the list as this is really for the exact blocks from the book and I will be not adhering to it lol...

Good luck Rosy! Sorry the small blocks didn't work for you...I've been having a ton of fun! The blocks are challenging, but I'm feeling so good as I finish each one, but small isn't for everyone, which is why we have a ton of different quilt blocks and sizes and styles, right? Your quilt will be pretty!

Sorry to see you leaving the FW project, Rosy, but I understand completely. "Different strokes for different folks!" I love doing the little blocks, which kind of surprises me. I like to think I'm picking up some accuracy pointers & skills while doing these blocks.

I like your blocks & am looking forward to seeing your finished quilt top/quilt.

My blocks 7 and 8. I will say that my points are getting better. And I tried rotary cutting on 7 and it worked much better. Less room for error I think!

Thanks for the boost! I am going to still try for next summer which is about how long this FWS is going to take! I'll be happy if they even allow my entry. I've heard they are very particular in entry allowance. One gal said they wouldn't take hers because her binding wasn't evenly divided between front and back. So at least I know to be very accurate when I bind!

Although one of my dreams is to have one in the State Fair, I wonder if starting with a county fair entry would be an option just to get some experience.

I hope we both have entries next year!
