Your blocks are all looking great. I really like the colors in #8 there.

Just happened on your site and was wondering where you all came up with your patterns at? Love them.

Vanessa I love the fabric in your block-looks like birds in the air; very nice job.

Miss Fay: if you go to the Block of the Month section and look for Farmers' Wife Sampler Quilt you will get all the info you need to join in the fun (usually fun-some blocks are hard LOL). We purchased the book and do 2 blocks per week. Lots of info-PM me if I can help.

The book is "The Farmer's Wife Sampler Quilt" by Laurie Aaron Hird, published by Krause Publications, Cincinnati, OH. I got my book through Connecting Threads.com

Ok here is a stupid question. Why do they call this the farmers wife pattern?

Not stupid. Back in the 30s or so, a newspaper or a magazine geared for farm wives ran a series of articles by asking the question,"Would you like your daughter to marry a farmer?" Letters poured in and a winner was chosen. Laurie found out about this contest and got permission from the newspaper to reprint the letters along with coming up with a block pattern to accompany them. The result is this Farmer's Wife Sampler Quilt book. These little blocks become addicitve. Once you finish these, you might want to look at the book, "Sylvia's Bridal Sampler" by Jennifer Chiaverinni of the Elm Creek Quilts book series. That quilt has 140 6" blocks - all different. Farmer's Wife has 110 blocks.
