Dumb question perhaps, but how do you sew the sections together without removing the paper? I know the basic of pp, even though I've never done it before, but that step isn't clear to me.

Not a dumb question, but I think if you go to tutorials you will find many tuts on paper piecing! Just type in paper piecing tuturial.

J.M. if you will leave the pp on the fabric, the quarter inch margin line will guide you to sew the perfect 1/4". Then you can tear the paper off. It is messy but something I do while watching TV (get out your tweezers).
Another advantage the pp helps with is, when I am piecing, my fabric doesn't get chewed up in the throat plate slot. I don't have one for my machine that just has a hole. Apparently it isn't made for my machine.
Hopefully you will begin to love the pp. I try to convert every pattern I do to pp as I can't sew a straight seam.

Ok, this PP is a pain in my un-stitcher!!
I know this is supposed to be an easy method....I must just be making it harder than it needs to be.

    Paper piecing tips:

When using copy paper for your paper pattern remember the printed side is the side you sew on . The unprint side is the fabric side.

to place your #1 fabric: fold along the sewing lines of that piece. Then when you turn over you can see where to place the #1 fabric. I put a dot of washable glue stick to hold it in place. right side of fabric facing up. Place #2 fabric right side down over #1. I finger hold and flip over and sew on printed line.

I suppose I have confused many, but maybe helped a couple :?:

Thanks Jerrie, I need all the help I can get.

Has anyone used the scribble pad paper to paper piece? I used this on my string blocks and the paper tore off really easily. It will go through the printer if cut to 8 1/2 x 11.

    Thanks for the hints everyone!
