Ok this really stinks. It was a combined effort from me and hubby. This is as good as we could get it so didn't go any further so that we wouldn't ruin it. He did the stitching because I couldn't but we couldn't get it mastered. Anyway I attempted it.

P.S. The heart is for you Chele... :D

    Toni,
Thank you for trying. Your Sue is cute and you'll think so too in a day or so. Step away from Sue and let her grow on you.

The first time I tried to do applique I asked my sister, Marcella, to teach me. After 2 minutes I told her I wasn't meant to applique and quit! I really didn't want to quit but I just couldn't get it. She was teaching me needle turn.

A few years later I discovered I could use wonder-under and basically color with fabric and that was the first time I actually enjoyed the applique process. And now I can even do needle turn. It's not my favorite but I can do it!

I'm so happy you've made Sue. I am very proud of you and I predict in a few months you'll try it again. Remember, never say never!

P.S. What a sweet husband you have. My husband will barely step into the sewing room!

P.P.S At least your block is done. I'm just starting mine!

Go Toni (and hubby)! I think it turned out adorable. And you went above and beyond the pattern with the heart! Very cute. I knew you could do it. :D

Since this is your first applique, you may want to have a glass of wine first. Just kidding.

KarenMary and Donna Anne, you ladies did great and I love seeing your Sue and Bill all finished.
