The FWS 30"s Quilt-Along Week 1 Blocks-Addie & Aimee
#81
Such cute blocks! I think it would be interesting to read the comments from the Farmer's wives in the book. What are the differences between the two books, besides that the one for this group has 99 blocks and the other book has 111 blocks? From the blurbs on Amazon it seems like they were basically the same book, except the author offered a different setting with fewer blocks in this book. Well, I succumbed and ordered it. It will be a late start, but just noticed the thread this week and agreed it would be fun to make a ton of little 6" blocks!

klgreene - your blocks turned out just beautiful. You caught up in a flash!
givio - This is Laurie Hird's 3rd Farmer's Wife Book. The first one was The Farmer's Wife Sampler Quilt, the second was The Farmer's Wife Pony Club Quilt. As a group here on Quilting Board we have made the first two in previous years. This book has different blocks from the previous two books. I am so glad you are going to join this group, we have a lot of fun.

Can't wait to get started, have bought a few things this weekend, per everyone suggestions, colored pencils, binder protectors, glue sticks and bottle of wine, now if my book would get here I would b already, even cleaned my quilting room found my old iron that doesn't do steam as per the videos I have also watched, did I mention I am still waiting on my book, lol, just a little humor along the way, can't wait, hope when I return from Virginia this week back to Jersey my book will be there, do little catch up. Did anyone else join the same group from Fat Quarters Shop they start theirs in September, a little more confusing then this one, they are going to be doing them from easyest to most difficulty, they as well are talking about using templates instead of pp, sounds like a big expense to me, will be selling templates on line.

Givio, as Jeanie pointed out, all the books are different. FWS features letters to the editor of why farmers' wives would or wouldn't want their daughters to be farmers' wives; FWS Pony club was letters from children telling why they wanted to win a pony. As a city gal (as evidenced by my using donkeys instead of ponies in FWS Pony quilt LOL) I learned a lot and a gained a whole lot of respect for farmers. Plus this is a fun group-join us!
Great variations in color, ladies--the blocks take on a different look and I like all of them. Looking forward to Tuesday and new blocks!

Nice blocks KL, I do think we got some of the same fabrics from Keepsake Quilting, it's neat to see how they turn out with different choices. I did buy some more brighter Kona solids on sale at Hancock last week to brighten it up some and I was happy with the colors they had.
I like to review the posts from time to time because after doing the blocks something I read previously will make more sense to me (aha moment). Quiltingninasue, are you saying that you use the templates to trace and cut your fabric and then use the pp templates to sew them? I sure do waste a lot of fabric and wonder if that would help me. Going to get my clover clips today.
