Hey Ya'll I decided ta do this for another pot holder but when I squared it up it was 8.5". So it now replaces Confederate Rose. (I will make another Mariners Compass for another sub.)

Here is Star, she's a lot like Liberty, which was why I was gonna make her into potholder.

A cream w/stars that look like they are flyin' around & a brick red w/stationary stars. I had bought some that was similar at Hobby Lobby but after I washed it it was thin.Way too thin. I'm glad that I only a little bit as a sample.

Yes I appliqued the star. First I sewed the 2 fabrics tagether. I used freezer paper for the star & cut out the fabric a li'le bit bigger. Makin' sure that I liked where the center line was. I then folded it over the edge & glued it down. I heat set it w/ the iron. Next I took the freezer paper off & reset w/the iron. Then I glued it down on to the backin' & heat set. Makin' sure that the seams lined up. Lastly I satin stitched all around. Clear as mud???

I've never used freezer paper but I see it in my future.

I often buy sample fabrics before I go for the yardage, especially in something that's a major project. You'll have to start putting your window sashings on to show us!
