This week's blocks were much easier to do then last week's and we're still not off the hook...there are more "Y" seams to come in the near future....H.

.Letter of the Week #9--Dwight M. Snow; Golden Valley County, North

    Block association ... Betty's Delight

Dwight M. Snow was born on January 29, 1902 in Minnesota. In the first census that he is listed (1910) he and his father, Francis (b. 1878) and his mother, Fawn (b. 1877) are living in Golden Valley County, North Dakota. In the 1920 census when Dwight is 18 years old, only he and his father are listed. It is unknown if mother Fawn, died or left the family. By the 1930 census, Dwight is listed along with his wife Engelina Snow who was born on May 17, 1903. We also find that Dwight and Engelina are the parents of a six month old baby girl, Mary. Dwight died rather young, on January 15, 1968, just a few weeks shy of his 66th birthday. He never did leave Golden Valley. His wife Angeline lived to be 97 ½ years old and passed away on Christmas Eve 2000 in Bowman, North Dakota. Since daughter Mary was born in 1929, it is quite likely that she is still living. The problem is that it is hard to find daughters since they usually marry and change their names. I am hoping that Dwight and Engelina had a son and I can locate him next year when the 1940 census is released.

We watch the genealogy shows and "see" how easy it is to trace family trees, but IRL it isn't that easy is it? What a lovely name--Fawn. Hoping to get at the blocks yet tonight.

I am just off to bed but had to check the message board. I also had problems with those pesky corners so egads I hand pieced them in, first time for everything. Honchey you and Anael aced those set in corners, I am so envious. Mine look ok but they could have been better. Will post pics tomorrow, I have to deliver my charity quilts to the hospital, will post pics of those also..

Ladies, please forgive me for not participating this past week. I've looked at and love all the blocks "yinz" have made. My mother was in the hospital for 3 days and is now in a rehabilitation facility to get her build her strength and walking. I relax late at night or in the coffee shop looking at all your beautiful blocks and getting caught up. I miss joining in.

I substituted a block for Eastertide. I think of my dad and his hyacinths whenever I think of Easter. (And to be perfectly honest, I couldn't get those blasted corners in my block LOL).

Thanks for the well wishes for my mother. I really appreciate your support. Prayers to Arte, too.

Hope to be back to normal schedule (or "new normal") by next week.
    Peace-Jan

JanRN ... I've been thinking about you, and knew your absence was telling us that you were with your Mom. While it's extra for you to be heading to the rehab for visits, I hope you take some comfort in knowing that she is getting the care and assistance that she needs at this time. Here's wishing her strength and stability as she gets back to walking. And strength to you, to hold up!!! It's so good that you have the internet hook up at the coffee shop to help you get your "fix"! I swear I could smell your Dad's hyacinths .... always love that smell, and particularly when you first walk into a room with them. Or as you walk along a walkway with many in bloom.
