As for the towels ... I'm not from the churning era, but I did embroider several sets of those towels with days of the week and other sayings. Still have one embroidered set unused that I might re-make into a quilt some day. And also a set that I did with the liquid embroidery tubes. Anyone remember those?

    You've got me thinking!
The link I included had the toweling. This site sells all kinds of fabric so I would expect that they have gingham. I've purchased from them before with satisfactory results. Actually I've seen it here in the states at Joanne's.

GGal ... though I'm not a great one for online ordering. I still have this hangup of liking to do the touchy-feely thing when I'm selecting fabric! There's a couple of stores here where I expect I can get it. PLus I live near Mennonite/Amish communities, so chances are I would get it in their home shops.

Hey, that's a great idea. I love going to an Amish store. I don't order on line as a rule for the very same reason but once in awhile it has served me well.

MiraB ... and I have gained so many friends here! Bless you and all!

GGal ... My handquilted quilts have been done by an Amish lady. You should have Amish not far off from you, as well, I suspect? The nearest for me are only about 1/2 hour away.

Yep: Here lies a Cowboy Not Very Wise; He chose too many wives, his own size; except they were wiser than he....took all his money & things and left him the shotgun, whiskey and hound, you see.

He killed the hound and then shot himself after drinking all the whiskey...
