W4Me ... Looks like you have corralled another one!! Look at how that green pulls the green from the sage batik. Amazing, isn't it?

Soon, you'll have to show us a group shot of your Ponies!

Thanks QuiltE and Anael. I appreciate you following along. 9 blocks are now done and I have a group shot at home. Will try to post it either tonight or tomorrow.

One thing I notice with the batiks is, if I cut the fabric a smidge too small, I can't massage it larger when I piece. This block is about 1/8" small because batiks don't give and I wasn't on the ball when I cut. I've been cutting about 1/16-1/8" large except for this one. I'll know better next block. And I think the black spider web batik may make an appearance soon.

I know what you mean ... batiks are generally a tighter weave, so very little give.
................. another lure to PPing!!! Precision sizing after the final trimming!

If I know a block is a little off in sizing, I mark it with a safety pin, as a reminder when I come to joining, so I can account for that with a narrower seam width on the block side, and regular 1/4" on the sashing.

w4me, I admire your commitment to rotary cutting instead of PPing. Some of us--I won't mention any names --prefer not to PP! I too will be anxious to see the group shot!

I just love your Colt's Coral, W4M! The contrast is just wonderful!
This was one o' my first PP blocks. I wanted my stripes ta be perfect & just couldn't git it right w/o PP.

oksewglad - It's not that I am against PP. I just want to see how far I can get without it. I find things go a lot slower with PPing and the last thing I have is time.
dublb - Thank you. I'm certainly not perfect, so why should my quilt blocks be?
Here is the group shot: 9 blocks done so far.

Just terrific these are! Contrast is the key, isn't it? Maybe you've mentioned it before, but what are your finish plans? Settings?
