I love spring. We keep doing stuff outside. Not much sewing agoing on here. I'm supposed to help DD plant some cactus & lantana in her front beds today. Those beds are under DGSon's & DFGD's windows. They face the front yard & the kids love the idea that cactus will be there to protect 'em. However DD wants it there to discourage the kids form going out those windows also. It will occur to 'em later. DH never asked me to come out the window when we were dating as there was a very large Pyracantha growing out my window when I was growing up.

I have to say that I also tried to plant prickly plants below my DK's windows. It only occured to DH & I because of that Pyracantha that was by my window as I was growing up. My parents didn't plant it as it was there when they bought the house & my DM likes Pyracantha. I too like a lovely Pyracantha. I have one that is an off-spring of the one my DGDad had here. It is growing slowly. I am training it to grow Espalier. That is up against the wall while cutting all the branches that grow out. I have to prune it regularly, just a bit at a time.

I am sad to say that the last hearing for my DNiece turned out making my DNiece look really bad. She & her lawyer weren't prepared for all the things that she was accused of. They were prepared for things that she had done that aren't as bad as the things she was accused of. Those things weren't brought up. She was told that she won't get her DSon back till the court date in June. After all of that she decided that not to continue the bloodbath that the custody fight will become . She doesn't want to put her DSon through all of that. I am heartbroken. They have negotiated her visitation rights now. I am worried about my DGNephew. I guess I have to put him in God's hands. It does look like I will get him for about a week this summer. Well DM, DD & I will share him.

Heart breaking news, Dublb. yes, to leave in God's hands and see what happens. I will pray for you, too.

It seems winter is not over yet; another storm moving in from the Rockies, coming into the mid western area, all north of us, but I feel for those in its path. Temperatures will dip down to 27 here. Spring flowers are coming up. Potatoes and peas are planted. Rooster and the guineas are gone and things are much quieter here. Young new guineas (20 keets) will be here in the middle of June. They are coming with wings permanently clipped, so they will not fly away into the wilds here. There was a cougar across the road calling for a mate last year. Also several small bears have been spotted around here, so I think that qualifies as the 'wild' place here. Deer are around too. Optic fiber is being laid in our neighborhood and we hope it works right. They surveyed our place to mark where the line comes in, my DH just laughed because they drew a line with an arrow pointing one way, then drew a line the opposite way with an arrow pointing the other way, and put a question mark between the two lines. LOL!

Sorry to hear of this disappointing news, Bev...

Good to hear from you QNS. I haven't taken pictures of the 3 quilts I have made from horse fabric pieces that are heading to Nebraska later this month. A couple ladies in my guild are also adding to my package. It's my hope to have sewn four 65 x 72 (or therabouts), four toddler size, and one queen size to send. So far have 3 of the 65 x 72, two toddler. Cutting out blues for the queen size and plan to use leftovers from that for the 4th 65 x72. Using some large squares to make my quilt making go faster.

Snowing here...to have 3-4 inches. Just hope we don't get freezing rain. I hated to go to work yesterday only because I could've gotten some yard work done...good thing I enjoy working!

So sorry, Bev... I'm sure that is heartbreaking. So who gets custody of the boy? His father?

Sorry Bev - court cases are always a hassle I hear! I think in most states Grandparents have rights, so you could apply for visitation.
