My husband used 3-In-One Household Oil. It's a very old can (note the typewriter!), used to be my mother's, and I don't know if you can still buy it or not? He used WD-40 to 'unlock' an old used machine. I don't know if that's good or bad, but the machines he's repaired work really well.

I read somewhere someone recommended TriFlow lubricant. I have some and want to give my aunt's machine a try to get it mooving.

3 in 1 oil gums up the machines!!! Do not use it! I am not sure about the Tri-Flo. I'll ask my instructor.

I don't think I have heard of Zoom, but it good to know about. My GM had a Singer in late 40s that I have and would love to get a cable for the treadle machine. I have it stored in the guest room, but I am thinking about boxing up the Serger and Embroidery machines and putting it back in the sewing room. I keep promising myself to use them and I don't.

I have gotten 2 of the 6 placemats done. Have the binding to do on four yet. DH had a blood clot in his left leg, it was swollen up yesterday but the Dr. gave him some pills that seem to help. They will image it again on Friday. No snow here yet.

I've had a productive couple of weeks. I finished up the barn wallhangings (38" square). Made a mini pinwheel wallhanging for my craft room (11x12-1/2"--still need to quilt/bind) and also made this "Wipe N' Wear" Kitchen Scarf...going to make more of these for gifts. I can get enough strips to make 6 scarves...

DD & I drove to Round Rock & DD saw a very understanding RA DR today. He ordered a ton of blood test & 12 x-rays. They took 8 vials of blood outta her. He'll call her when the tests are run. I do hope that she gets some answers.

Thanks Bev. I saw that wipe n wear and had to make one. I was able to find a free tutorial online. The only thing I changed was how she folded the towels. I opted *not* to use interfacing mostly because I forgot to buy it but I don't really think I needed it. https://sew4home.com/projects/kitche...en-towel-scarf

I too hope they can find some answers for your daughter.

dublb, As you can see on the back of the can, 3 in 1 oil was made for sewing machines (little sewing machine picture) among other purposes. Maybe it is an older formula than what is available today that you don't like? Or maybe it has worked so well for my mother and my sewing machines because we have old sewing machines. Maybe the older machines have different requirements? We have used it for many many years with success.
