QHS, did you get a bunch of snow last week?...heard that southern Iowa snow melted quite quickly.

A lovely week here this week, but it has been windy. I got old debris off the garden and have radish, peas, kohlrabi, and some lettuce in the ground. Plan to do a town run tomorrow and get a few veggie plants to set out, refill a Rx, get a few groceries and then head home. I filled our 16 gal car tank over 4 weeks ago and have 3/4 of a tank left! And now gas is even cheaper..oh well. 14 yo GD got her bees yesterday for her hive...now she's a bee charmer! We need a few more flowers. scilla are in full bloom and a few daffodils showing up.

    Take care all.

Yes, Ok, we did get about 8 inches of heavy snow, but it melted within 2 days, and we were so happy about that. Since we were staying home, we did not attempt to go anywhere while the snow was on the ground. Working on finishing "Frolic" by Bonnie Hunter, finding out what I need to make more of and getting squares together. I love the pattern and find I am sewing on it more these days of staying home. Need to make more 'ready to eat' meals for the week and bake dh 'biscuit/cake' muffins that helps him to lower his blood sugars. Also I am baking bread as needed to help him with his 'Asthma ' that all dairy products trigger. Are Dairy farmers really dumping milk at the farm, OK? I hope not, but news is saying so. Stay safe.

QNS, could you share your recipe for the biscuit/cake muffins? They sound good.

I haven't checked in lately. My quilt projects are not coming along very well. I feel like Bev with the 'I don't wanna's'... I don't wanna sew a mask either.

I still have the I don't wanna's. I have been making myself do some different things. I have gone fishing several evenings. Sat I caught a 2 lb black bass. I haven't caught anything else since. I have spray painted Dh's DGM's metal porch chairs. I painted 'em red. I have been trying to paint the porch swing also. It was made for my DM 35 or 36 years ago. It's was stained at that time but nothing has been done to to it since. The wood is so dry that it is soaking up the primer like a sponge. At first I was trying to spray paint the primer. Well after 7 cans I decided that I needed to break out some of the Kills2 that I still have from painting the deck last year. I got a coat of that on it yesterday & have put on a second coat on the top today. I'll get it finished in a few hours. I might see about getting the red paint on it tomarrow.

I painted my hubby's granddad's old porch swing too, and used multiple coats! It still looks like it doesn't have enough paint on it. I guess that old wood gets incredibly dried out.

I got all of the Kills2 hand painted on & then was able to easily paint it w/the red spray paint. I did do 2 coats of the spray paint. It is drying. I am also gonna spray paint the chain as it is very rusty. I have it laying on cardboard I have 2 coats of a primer specially made for rusty things. I'll turn it over & do 2 coats on the other side before I start painting it w/the white spray paint.

Givio, I started out with a mx I had, then seen how out of date it was and threw it out. And grabbed my Betty Crocker cookbook and looked up 'muffins'. And started with that recipe, adding chopped dates and golden raisins before putting them in some 'mini' cupcake pans. I sprayed the pans with olive oil and checked until they were baked at 350 degrees and looked done. I turned the pans upside down over parchment paper and 'shook them up and out of the mini pans. If you don't have access to that cookbook, PM me. (The mini size makes a good treat and is small and stores in the refrigerator. I have started baking Apple Pies for dh with lots of cinnamon in the crust and pies as it lowers his blood sugar and keeps him happy.

QNS, I guess I could get out my cookbook. :-) I don't have raisins or dates or anything, and not planning on going to the grocery store though. I guess I'll put it off for now. But your baking sounded nice. :-)

Thanks , givio. I drove our daughters crazy when they were learning to cook because I never measure, just throw it together and fix it. I can almost re-account what I put into it, but seldom use a recipe although I seem to collect them all the time looking for something new. Hope you all had a lovely Mother's Day. I got into my quilt room and sewed another five blocks for Frolic, BH mystery quilt. Love my colors I am using, all the way to 10 blocks done now, and more on the way to complete. It was wonderful to have some time to sew, will continue this week, I hope. Two of our children called to wish me a good Mother's Day. Nice.

Glad you got a call, QNS.... and Happy Mother's Day to all the rest of you ladies. I just got off the phone from my video chat with daughter, Son in Law, Son and grandbaby. It was great to see them all, especially little Ivy. Can't wait to see her in person.

Today I dumped out my scrap bin (a big Tidy Cat bucket that was stuffed to the gills). I've started making two scrap quilts and there's still so many scrap pieces left. I could make two more! These are lap quilts (or child's size quilts), so the size is manageable. I love seeing all the colorful scraps together.
