Today was a rough day. I had to deal w/a Dr that wouldn't get her the treatment she needed. (The hospitalist felt that she needed to have some suction on her stomach as it was getting distended.) I did put my poor nurse in a bad spot. I finally got mad & left the room looking for DM's nurse. I had just got off the phone w/someone that wouldn't let me talk to the other DR. I was very frustrated & was gonna get the nurse, the hospitalist & whoever it took to to get it done. The thing was as I started calling the nurse's name, the very Dr I needed was walking down the hall. I know that I had to look like I was frantic w/my long grey hair flying. I ran up to him & grabbed his hand & took him in to DM's room. (I think he thought she was dyeing.) He examined her (for the first time I might add) & ordered the suction!
My asthma is acting up big time! I coughed all day today. Sigh!

That sounds really stressful, Bev. But at least you were able to find the dr. and get the right treatment ordered.

Junebillie, glad the day turned out so wonderful for you all at the renewing of the vows. I had a feeling it would be special.

Jeanie, I'm surprised Publix isn't in your area.. I know they're in southern California..I've had the melons from Costco..they are good but this one is better.

Sewbiz, At the potluck last night I started asking neighbors for their DH's shirts..My DH was raising his eyebrows and shaking his head. Ha Ha, I think he's given up on me

OK, don't you just hate it. I have people coming up to me and tapping me on the shoulder when I'm counting the cash drawer and them insisting on asking me questions and wanting an answer when my mouth is mumbling with numbers..They get upset and walk away!!!

Keep on plugging away with those bits and pieces Junebillie.. someday they will be a quilt

Ah, Honchey...now you will know who your real friends are...the one's who will give you the shirt off their...um their husband's back....LOL

Overcast today...with 50% chance of rain but radar shows it could be just light showers if anything, and sunny days for at least 6 days. Meanwhile Cedar Rapids and small towns along the Cedar River are preparing for major flooding as the rain that fell earlier is making its way to the Mississippi. I hope Carrie is doing okay...maybe their family have been on snagging crews.

Gotta get something done..coffee pot is empty.

And what are you knitting? I used to be a huge knitter before I jumped headlong into quilting. I still have an afghan in progress for TV time (crochet), but lately have been embroidering tea towels in front of the TV instead. Last thing I knitted was a pair of socks about a year ago.

Honchey, in doing a search of the Publix stores, I only see them on the Eastern Coast area. None in CA that I could find! People who have never had to deal with selling, have no idea how difficult it is to do the tasks that are required, and have no patience either.

Bev - so sorry about the problems with your mom. Our son just got out of the hospital with a flare-up of his Crohn's Disease. So much pain with stomach problems! It is awful your mom has to deal with this!

JuneBillie - it sounds like everyone had a great time at the Vow Renewal. Looking forward to seeing the pictures.

She forgot to bring the knitting needles so I just passed time visiting all the different vendors at the picnic.

All the communities around here are very crafty and charitable..A business woman that owns a Wig Boutique that is also a Hair Salon, does mani's & pedi's and deals with many Cancer Survivors and those still dealing with Chemo, etc visitied our Monday stitchers group knowing from others that we have knitters and crocheters within our group and asked us if we could help out making "knockers" for these women..The pattern for them will hopefully be emailed to me tonite so I can check it out..I will be getting the needles & yarn tomorrow..The yarn is donated by the woman who owns the Salon..There are different sizes for the "knockers" A, B, C, I don't know if there is a D size..
I like to pick up knitting every once in awhile..crochet too..more so when the cooler weather comes around..
When I was barely a teenager I knitted a pair of pink wool 2 needle socks that had cables all around.. I put them in the washer & dryer and they shrunk so small they fit my Mom's feet that were a size 5..they were so thick that she used them like slippers..She wore them until she died . 57 years worth.. Till today I cannot find that pattern..

You know Jeanie, you're right..I was thinking of Von's. It's the melon company that's located out west.

They are soft knitted or crocheted boobies for women that have had their breast/s removed.. they are lightweight and don't make the area sweat or uncomfortable..I've been told they come in all different colors and the women love them.
A flavor for every day of the week so to speak

Haven't you ever heard the slang term..She's got a great set of knockers? most commonly used by men generations ago.

I've seen them, but never knitted a pair of knockers, myself. It should be fairly quick. Kind of like a tiny hat (same type of decs or incs for the shaping) and then a flat back. And then stuffed. They are little prosthetic boobies that can go in a bra when someone has had surgery to remove a breast (or both). Great charity knitting!
