QNS, please take care of yourself! Make sure after you get your canning done you elevate that leg; try to take some breaks while canning so you're not on that leg too long. Yesterday at work we had 3 patients that had fallen over the week-end and were pretty banged up. I think maybe we're all a little distracted this time of year and falls increase.

ONE MORE WORK DAY!!!!!! Yay! Yesterday was brutally busy because the office was closed from Wed thru Sunday because of Thanksgiving. Saw twice as many patients and answered twice as many phone calls. But I kept telling myself "one more, one more" and got thru it with a smile. When I got home I threw my scrubs in the laundry; MrJanRn laughed and asked why I didn't just throw them out! Our office Christmas party is tonight so next week I'll tell them I'm done after my last scheduled day Dec. 22. Can't wait. Found out today that my sister is also retiring at the end of the year. She's been an art professor at a major university for the past 35 years. She plans on continuing to exhibit nationally & internationally and is looking forward to doing art for herself, not teaching students.

Take care everyone, no more accidents please. We're getting freezing rain & freezing fog but it's supposed to end soon.

What a cutie! Kids love gadgets, don't they? Love that he's helping Grandma.

OK hope you're recovering from your "triple header"; we haven't seen much flu or stomach flu around here yet. Usually hits at Christmas.

Had our office Christmas Party last night. I had the best Osso Bucco over creamy risotto. OMG the portion was so huge I brought half home with me. My elastic waist pants are too tight today!! Now does anyone have a good recipe for it? It was made with pork shanks (which I don't know what they are) and was falling apart-didn't even need a knife. I'd love to make it if anyone knows how.

I have a wonderful recipe from the Silver Palate Cookbook...the dish is generally made with Veal Shanks...The shanks come from the lower leg of the calf between the knee & ankle...the "shin bone" is part of that area..have you ever seen soup meat with the little round bone in the middle? the shank is the section that isn't sliced..OK, the shank isn't considered above the knee is it? I'm not sure about that.

"triple whammy of coughing, vomiting, and diarrhea! Every joint in the body hurts. " Sorry OK, hope things start looking up for you and your grands.

I think, Honchey, you are right. From the knee down to the hoof on veal or pork is called a 'shank'. JanRN, a good cook book shows the cuts of meat with beef or hog.

Now, JanRN, you will have to plan your 'retirement free time' to see if you have any spare time at all.

Did a bit of quilting shopping today...picked out yellows to make a 'sunshine' quilt....its going to be needed this winter.

Jan, I'll email the recipe to you after I get home this weekend...

Today was such a crazy day for me..the community intranet had a villager selling a white wicker bedroom set & a TV cart..I got it for $100...here's a couple of photos.. a bedframe & mattress came with it but I didn't need it..We had to move it today!!! I can't believe it..our neighbor helped us out with using his pick up truck to move it all.....

I added more gels to the door window...
