I have started wearin' bright clothes on dreary days. Even red. I usually wear cool colors but need my spirits lifted on some o' those dreary days.
The tree guy did come the other day. It is gonna cost us $900 ta git those limbs that are stuck over the roof off. Wonder how much it would have cost us if we hadn't taken caare o' all the branches that were on the ground & the few that DH & #1DSon could reach? This is a big tree especially for our area. No trees grow naturaly here so only trees that are planted grow. I bet this tree was planted when the house was built in the mid 50's. The trunk is 8 feet in circumference. It is part o' the reason we bought the house.

Bev, how are you dealing with snow in your area? If wearing bright colors helps, we need them around here--haven't seen the sun in weeks. Haven't had a real snowy winter (yet) but we're getting it today and tonight. Have I mentioned how much I hate snow LOL????? It wasn't supposed to start until dinner time but it's really coming down right now. Anne, watch out, it's headed your way. Big pot of spaghetti sauce on the stove for dinner, bread baking in bread machine--mmm, house smells so good. Should go get some sewing done but a nap is calling my name. Stay warm and safe everyone. Jeanie, enjoy the sun for us please. OK I know the farmers around here are happy about the snow, it's really needed.

If all else fails to brighten up the spirits, create a yellow sun from fabric or paper and set it in a corner.

Seems that a lot of quilt magazines and recipes have taken up residence in my bedroom without any organization, so I am 'going' through all and trying to organize, pile them somewhere else, and try to remember the 'where' is in the after math of early spring cleaning. LOL! Letting dh help and earn his 'pilot' license...pile that here or there thing. Remembering, when I tire will all go back into that unorganized but here pile. Trash pile is getting bigger, so think I have some success.

Sorry about the added tree removal cost, dublb.. Love your bright colored clothes wearing idea. On the subject of yellow....there is a reason why I painted my KD and LR a soft yellow. After walking down the short hall from the front door, many first time visitors comment on how cheery this space is.

Last night was kids school fund raiser. Took 3 small things, the dove set in cream and red, a square table mat I took out of the UFO pile, as well as a mini heart quilt. All told $300 for the school.

Avery is to bring 100 of an item for their 100th day of KG. Bless her heart she wants to take fabric squares.. Looking for her to come so she can pick through some I Spy fabrics. She's already chosen some birds. Wouldn't this make a great quilt?

Easterners drive safe if you are out and about. I did hear of that bad pile up awhile ago and wondered how close it was to you, Jan, so be careful.
Re: farmers wanting snow....snow blankets the ground, literally, and protects perennial crops like alfalfa and other grasses. Lack of snow and very cold temps can kill the plants. Same is true for flowers. Snow also protects against soil erosion. Open fields are subject to freeze drying the soil, so not only does snow add moisture it prevents additional moisture loss. All for today in AG 101.......

OK I love the Ag 101 courses!! When we started Pony Quilt I couldn't tell the difference between ponies & donkeys if you remember LOL. I am much more appreciative of farmers and how much work goes into farming. And yes, that huge car accident was about 20 miles north of me; one of the drivers killed was from my hometown. That's where our favorite FART LQS is located.

We got about 5" of snow overnight and it's still coming down like crazy. Supposed to total about 8-10"; nothing like they're expecting further east. Anne, hope you are safe, glad you got groceries when you did--if I'm reading the map correctly you are going to get walloped. We live on a back street that won't see a plow until May. MrJanRn got out the snow blower and did the whole block and will probably do it again around dinner time. We have a lot of elderly neighbors, 2 others being treated for breast cancer, and 1 being treated for prostate cancer and they can't do their sidewalks. Plus he likes the exercise (and the coffee some bring out to him). We also have a bunch of lazy college students in a rental who don't know what a shovel is for.

Beef stew in the crockpot for dinner. Heading back to the Bat Cave.

I've done a lot of running around last nite & this morning...If we DO get the 18 -24" as predicted I won't be going anywhere and I'm sure the delivery trucks that are scheduled to get to the stores mid-week will be delayed, so I have the makings for pork shoulder & kraut, stuffed peppers, sausage & peppers, beef stew, plus 3 lbs of bacon, 2 doz eggs, rye bread, ciabatta rolls, white bread, assorted cold cuts, 2 gallons of milk, 8 lbs of oranges, 5 lbs of halos, banana bread, apple turnovers, crumb buns, frozen veggies and ice cream!!!!

I think I have enough to last awhile... the question is...with all this food I'm supposed to prepare...will I have time to sew this week?

Yes, OK, snow is a good insulator...I notice when we have a lot of snow ..the house seems warmer...1/2 od my home was built in 1934 and there are some parts that were impossible to insulate when we did a redo ..

Mail Lady just dropped off a box...Jan, what a nice surprise..books too!! I asked DH " who is the box for?" He answered "who else!" ha ha.. what a nice thing to happen on a cloudy snowy day..A little sunshine to brighten my day..Thank You Jan...

The snow melted here real fast. We don't have any equipment for road clearin'. We are supposed ta have real nice weather the rest o' the week.
I am sick. I have a severe sinus infection. Well that's what the Dr. said. I got a shot & have ta go & git my prescritions in a bit.

Beautiful bright sunshine here today and its hitting fifty degrees! I was over medicated because of loss of weight and had to kick my BP medicine down a bit and Dr. agreed and called it in today. I am doing my happy dance.

There was an accident near Lucas, Iowa, at 65 and Derby turnoff with a woman in a car hitting a semi-truck and it exploded about three times sending black smoke up into the air and blew pieces of vehicles all over the junction. The woman was lifted by helicopter to Des Moines Hospital but not one word in any media in Iowa about it. Our bf seen the smoke and walked over later to see all the damage, but never heard a word if the woman or truck driver survived the crash. It happened last week. Strange how we hear some news, but not all of it.

Sending you all an email about the 'earth rise' as the astronauts came around from the dark side of the moon and seen the earth rise in all its beautiful colors and speak of it in dialog to each other. Beautiful. Enjoy.
