QE--yes archery today. We had to leave by 6am for an hour and a half drive to be there for 2 of the 3 kids to shoot at 8am (have to be there at half hour early to check in). The kids shot well and we were back home by about 1. I have been dragging most of the day. We haven't done much but watch a couple movies. DH had lunch (spaghetti and garlic bread) ready when we got home so that was nice.

A cake sounds good. I cheated and bought sugar cookies today since I didn't feel up to baking.

No time in the clubhouse today, maybe tomorrow afternoon...

I had another full day. I spent th'smornin' lookin' for nautical fabrics. Yesterday DDIL & DS said that they had decided ta do the baby's room with a nautical theme. I know that DDIL has a bunch o' blankets left over from the first boy. (I know 'cause I made 'em.) but I wanted ta make this baby 6 that were his own. DDIL's baby shower was taday at 2:00 & I thought I'd git the fabric for the shower & then make 'em later. There isn't a fabric in Midland, w/a nautical theme, ta be found. I did stop at an estate sale while I was out but that only took about 10 min.s. (I bought some silk scarves & silk robes.) I finally bought some underwater fabric, enough for 1 WOF square blanket, & used it ta wrap some diapers. I then rushed ta the shower.

After the shower was over DH took me out ta eat, Mexican food. Then we bought a movie at Hastings & watched it. I thought I'd git caught up on here while the movie was goin', but Turtle (my cat) decided ta sit in my lap the whole time. He just got out o' my lap & has gone ta bed w/DH. Turtle still feels bad. He had a cat scratch abscess on his cheek & was in the hospital for 2 days.

I can't believe how fast this day went.

Oh let's rush on over to sunny California for some yummy cake to celebrate those 2 babies Birthdays! Each day they are getting stronger--Oma.
Made a road trip yesterday to my aunt's estate sale. Brought home a couple of lovelies! This Martha Washington Sewing table--finish is beautiful. Pic shows a dusty top. And an Vintage Singer ($20). Serial number says it was made in 1928. Now to check out how it really works! Last hour drive home was snow covered roads so I am ready to call it a day! Will post more on the Singer later.

Yes Anael, soda is baking soda.

Mirabelle, a broiler is usually at the top of an electric oven. (Or it can be a separate part of a gas oven) You move the rack up as high as you can under the burner unit and turn the oven to broil. It gets the frosting mixture real hot and bubbly, then you take it out, but be careful not to burn it!

QuiltE, the cake is not heavy, but it is not light like an angel food cake. I like it because you don't have to get a mixer out, it turns out real nice just stirring the ingredients together. My aunt once told me to mix things with a pastry blender if you don't want to use a mixer, and I'll tell you, that works great!

Glad the BB got there Carrie! My son and his three little boys (age 7, 9 and 11) all shoot bow and arrows. The older boys were in a tournament in Sacramento a few weeks ago, and our son also shoots in tournaments.
