By the time I was through I had the quilt divided inta 4 quadrants & was manoverin' it all over the place. It was so funny! My DSIS has been so patient ta keep waitin' for this.

dublb - that quilt is beautiful. You must get it finished for your DSIS.

I had a real problem signing my BB. I found a permanent Silver Sharpie that showed up, but it did not come in a fine point. I practiced and practiced, but it just would not fit in that triangle. So, I resorted to the Ultra Fine Point Black. I know it does not show up very well, but it seemed to work better in the blue than the shell print. I did not think of the signature part when I picked out the fabrics. I was just concentrating on the shells, then the "water" blue. Took forever to find the fabric. You know when you have something in your mind as to what it should look like, it seems you can never find the right one.

It's all good Jeanie. I just didn't see it. I now know that it's there & am happy. The block is perfect!

I am so glad to hear that Mirabelle's BBs have arrived!! It was so much fun collecting the blocks over the last couples months and I want to thank everyone for the little extras you included. It was no trouble at all sorting and mailing back and I would be happy to host again if we ever decide to do this type of swap again.

I have enjoyed reading the stories behind the blocks.

It was a good day at the quilt shop but I am looking forward to being home tomorrow and getting the binding on my PC quilt!!

QNS is it the Fractured Star or Queens block, let me know which block you are having problems with, if you can wait I will download them tomorrow and see if I can redraft them with a bit of common sense, its almost dinner time and the children are barking..

QNS I drew up that block and I quickly made one. Don't worry about the scant seam allowance it is not needed the measurements are correct for a 1/4 inch.

The centre is the 5 1/2 inch squares cut into 4 on the diagonal, should measure 4 3/4 inch.

Now the 4 1/2 inch squares cut into triangles, sew 2 onto 2 sides of the 3 1/2 inch square, make 2 of these and sew to the QST as in photo 1.

The other triangles are sewn together then sewn to the background square as in photo 2. Sew these to the long sides of the centrepiece.

I hope I have explained it to you. This quilt is very very similar to one I made about 6 years ago, it was a mystery from Planet Patchwork.. I think the only difference is this star

If you aren't happy making this block and it can be a little tricky you can substitute for another 9 inch block, any star would work

I apologise for the poor quality photo, my camera doesn't like taking photos at night and my DS has made me promise that I won't press any more buttons on this camera

On another note I have just finished block # 8 for my Out of the Darkness quilt. I think I did more reverse sewing on this one than on any other block.

2 more to go then time to tackle the centrepiece.

Beautiiiiiiiiiful block Mirabelle. No, that's not the 'furrow' I am worrying myself about...this quilt is designed from the outside in...borders then next steps in for six steps. For a triangle, she cuts two 2 3/4 inch squares, sews once across the middle, and trims the under side of excess. Have done the center first, despite the instructions and finishing the last of four Iowa star designs. Its her 'scant' quarter inch seams to get the measurements to come out right...I had to add 1/4 seam allowance to get the Iowa star design to measure as a nine inch finish block. Will try emailing some of the measurement problems. Thanks for the offer.

dublb, great job on your quilt.

DublB ... your Celtic Knot will be a nice touch! Looks like it's time to finish your sister's quilt.

JeanieG ... I love that water blue fabric you chose and it's so perfect for your seashells. Really frames them up so we can see them!

QNSue and DublB ... the best part of this whole group, being able to get help from all 'round the world to solve quilting problems! QNSue, I'm sure you'll soon have MiraB recruited to make this quilt along with you!

MiraB ... another darkness block, shining brightly! I'm sure the centre one will be just as stunning and then some!
