MiraB ... the butterflies are even more beautiful than when you gave us the sneak peak. The colours/threads combos are incredible and I don't think there are two alike. I think this is for your DDs birthday present, right? For borders ... what about extending the Chains to complete the diamond/square on point, like I did for my baby Irish?

Anael ... I'm so happy with the SewGrands progress! Bram will be a dressed up little man for his "birthday" today ... and there should be another photo op with the kilo banner for him!

Your floating blocks will work grand. They look a bit plain right now, but once quilted, they will float nicely and pop above. I also visualize some special quilting in the blank setting triangles to pull it all together. Perhaps a contrast thread? maybe variegated? For me, the hard part in doing all the joining as I go, would be to get the colour placements right. You are more consistent in your fabric choices, so it probably wouldn't be quite the issue. Another option would be to put the sashing on 2 sides as you go, then when you put it together, you could move the blocks around til you were happy, and just start stitching with no more sashings to be done. I started that with the PC, though when I got back to making the blocks, skipped that step in favour of getting the blocks done. The good news is that I have only about 1/2 the sashing to add and then will decide on the placement. The bad news is that if I were to do it again, I would go for a 1-1/2" finished, instead of the 1" in the pattern. That being said, you are doing the FWS and I would stick with the one inch, for sure.

QNSue ... you must have been peaking! Yes, I got your muslin yesterday, and was going to email you once I got done here to let you know it had arrived. It had arrived on Friday, but I didn't get to the PO til about ten minutes after they'd closed, so all that I got was a card saying, pick up at the counter. I didn't alert you, as til I got it I wasn't sure it was. It really is nice ... I am sure I have not seen anything like it here. I can see why so many have been posting about using it. THANK YOU! for getting it on it's way. And I'm sure the Mystery requests will be quite appreciative too!

CarrieM ... while the kids didn't qualify individually, it looks like there is still a lot to celebrate. Let's hope that they can go to Nationals as part of the team. Maybe you need to recruit some and get them excited about that? I picked up your package yesterday (see QNSue) and OMG the fabrics are all delightful. Not sure which I like the best ... OK, the panel with the farm animals and the cows both score highly!!! By chance, the cows on grass fabric, is there a plain grass as a go-with?

OKSGlad ... lots of excitement at the AGM yesterday? Got your secretarial notes put together? BTW that Makower farm panel I told you about, is well worth getting!!!!!! Don't miss out on it at your LQS or via CarrieM!

Honchey ... You asked about the squishies. I had sent JanieW a BB when I sent out the others, being that I was the one that had recruited her last year. Her enabler DH pushed her over the edge, so it was a collaborative effort! So my squishie was a BB she sent me in return, though as I noted, it has yet to arrive. Not sure of the others. And QNSue sent me some muslin, being that I was questionning about it and I am taken by it! Then, 3rd squishie was CarrieMs personal LQS shopping for me!

A pretty exciting day at the PO for me yesterday!!!!!!!!!!!
Now, if only the Canada Post huskies would get their butts in gear and deliver JanieWs!

    Thank you all!
Honchey, yes I did use the same background. I only have about 30 blocks finished but I wanted to try out this and I do like it.

GGal, happy anniversary! I hope there will be many more to celebrate! Thanks for the information on the Solstice blocks. I didn't click the link but now I have and I found block 2!

QuiltE, as soon as I have a picture of Bram dressed up and his kilo banner I will post it. I'm sure my DDIL will take lots of pictures today. She almost always does.

I do want to do some special FMQ in the setting triangles and I think I know what I want there. I'm not sure about contrast, it makes all the mistakes pop too I'm not that good at FMQ yet. I thought by joining row by row it's easier to pick the right colours for the next blocks and yes, I'm quite consistent in my fabric choices Bit booooooooooring?? LOL

Not at all boring, Anael ... it's pleasing to the eye!
Just make sure you have lots of fabric as if you run out part way thru ... oh don't even want to go there!

Oh some much chatter; my head is spinning and I must move on. Anael--I see you using the white and bright colors consistently. "Your" color palette for sure. And another BD as well as a kilo milestone. Yeah!
mirabelle- Isn't it amazing how much more complete the blocks look when sewn together vs just up on the design wall. So pretty.
Another anniversary to celebrate--Ggal it must be a Golden one--3 on the third, like the birthdays. Avery's golden birthday is tomorrow.
Good day yesterday--yes friends from a distance getting together and never enough time to visit properly. Meanwhile on the home front think DH needs to see an MD as chiropractic treatments not giving him the relief he needs. Everyone has to do extra while he's out of commission. Weekend warriors (the oldest grands) are helping today, so I will be back on barn duty tonight. We're supposed to get a blast coming from the Dakota's starting tomorrow afternoon. Just what we need another 10 inches of snow and one less man to handle the extra work it brings. So if I'm AWOL don't be alarmed.

QuiltE, I ordered 5 yards yesterday. Not the same fabric but the same colour. Maybe I have to wait till it's here which will be next week and save the background for the setting triangles and sashing. I do have some other PIGS to finish

Oksewglad, I hope your hubby will be well very soon. I'm glad we don't get that much snow! Great grands you have helping you out!

Marshall N.B. at 8 lb and 3oz. Celebration time, Dublb!!! Great Date to remember...

OksewGlad, hope your dh gets better quickly. If our Chiropractor cannot help us, he tells us to seek medical but all they knew was how to charge us money for my dh and his condition of bone spurs in his neck joints. Coral Calcium has been know to dissolve bone spurs, so that is what he has been taken for several years, and he is finally getting a little better.

I have been watching the Food Hospital on the Cooking Channel; so many things are related to food! Like my high blood pressure! Potassium and magnesium has been given me a lift since I started taking them couple of days ago...I have more energy!

Anael, hope the twins continue to make progress; will watch for more updates tomorrow.

Carrie - you are so sweet to always help everyone out with the fabrics from your quilt store. Thanks so much for asking. I ordered (I hope I got the correct one) last night online. We have 3 quilt stores, plus one fabric shop and JoAnn's all within 17 to 20 miles in two different directions. I find it just as easy to order online as run to all these places looking for a fabric. I did go to the fabric shop yesterday, as I was in that town, and that is where I got the fabric, but she is not carrying as many fusions now (darn).

    Dublb - congratulations on Marshall!

Anael - wow, it is hard to believe it has been 6 weeks since the twins were born! Time sure flys by fast.

    Gardnergal - Happy Anniversary!

OK - hope you find out something to help DH soon. Maybe he does need an MD, rather than a Chiropractor.

I have been having trouble for several months with the middle finger on my right hand. It just would not bend into a fist like the other fingers. Finally went to a hand specialist who says it is aggravated by arthritis, so have been going to a Hand Physical Therapy place here in my town. Talk about taking time out of my day with heat pad, straps to bend it down, exercises and cold packs. I am suppose to do this 3 - 4 times a day, but am usually get it done 2 times a day. It is such a process - takes around a half hour at a time! I've gotta remember to get another one in the middle of the day - I just forget! It is the pits getting old!!!
